ABSTRACT
The
appropriate
scaling
of
deformation
fields
has
a
significant
impact
on
the
performance
shape
optimization
algorithms.
We
introduce
pointwise
gradient
constraint
to
an
efficient
algorithm
for
‐Laplace
problems,
while
complexity
remains
polynomial.
Using
this
algorithm,
we
compute
descent
directions
using
‐harmonic
approach
that
fulfill
trust‐region
type
constraint.
Numerical
experiments
show
advantages
deformations
computed
with
when
compared
are
scaled
after
computation.
This
considers,
in
particular,
approximation
limit
setting
and
preservation
mesh
quality
during
fixed
step
size.

In
this
paper,
we
present
version
2.0
of
cashocs.
Our
software
automates
the
solution
PDE
constrained
optimization
problems
for
shape
and
optimal
control.
Since
its
inception,
many
new
features
useful
tools
have
been
added
to
cashocs,
making
it
even
more
flexible
efficient.
The
most
significant
additions
are
a
framework
space
mapping,
ability
solve
topology
with
level-set
approach,
support
parallelism
via
MPI,
handle
additional
(state)
constraints.
