Lung cancer remains the leading cause of death even after coordinated efforts in prevention, detection, diagnosis, and treatment. Two recent articles by American Cancer Society National Roundtable Iorgulesco et al. highlight ongoing advancements further decreasing burden lung cancer. The cytopathology community plays an essential role this endeavor providing expedited molecular testing working together with clinical teams to provide patient care.
