Approximately one-third of the world's food production, i.e., 1.43 billion tons, is wasted annually, resulting in economic losses nearly USD 940 and undermining system sustainability. This waste depletes resources, contributes to greenhouse gas emissions, negatively affects security prices. Although traditional packaging preserves quality, it cannot satisfy demands extended shelf life, safety, Consequently, active using biopolymer matrices containing antioxidants antimicrobials a promising solution. review examines current advancements integration carbon quantum dots (CQDs) into biopolymer-based packaging, focusing on their antioxidant antimicrobial properties. CQDs provide unique advantages over nanoparticles natural compounds, including high biocompatibility, tunable surface functionality, environmental explores mechanisms through which impart activities, synthesis methods, functionalization optimize efficacy matrices. Recent studies have highlighted that CQD-enhanced biopolymers maintain biodegradability with enhanced functions. ABSTRACT This work presents a fluorescence sensor based on nitrogen‐doped carbon dots (N‐CDs) utilized for sequential detection of Hg 2+ and TNT. The N‐CDs were produced by simple efficient hydrothermal process involving the combination black bean extract with citric acid (CA) ethylenediamine (EDA). resulting exhibit steady blue significant quantum yield 12%.
