ABSTRACT Gaining polymer with narrow molecular weight distribution ( Đ ) by efficient living polymerization methods is fundamental and essential in science. Grignard reagent mediated anionic capable of low , however, not suitable for the nonpolar monomers like styrene (St). Here, several kinds additives lithium chloride (LiCl) N,N,N′,N′′,N′′ ‐Pentamethyldiethylenetriamine (PMDETA) are demonstrated as that can promote St. Through LiCl‐promoted polymerization, polystyrene (PS) manipulated successfully achieved under mild conditions full monomer conversion, using a series reagents (RMgX) presence LiCl. In comparison, no PS be prepared absence additive. Electron paramagnetic resonance reveals radical characteristic increased additive, which eventually enables successful St conversion. This work therefore opens simple additive strategy to current method expands library might cause inspirations chemistry.

The development of novel polymerization capable yielding polymers with low molecular weight distribution (Đ) is essential and significant in polymer chemistry, where monofunctional initiator contains only one initiation site these polymerizations generally. Here, ketyl radical anion species introduced to develop a Ketyl Mediated Polymerization (KMP), which enables at carbon anionic ring-opening oxygen site, respectively. Meanwhile, corresponding organic synthesis generally couldn't be performed simultaneously pot. Through KMP, are achieved pot, small molecules (cyclopentane derivates) Đ successfully prepared under mild condition simultaneously. At the step, both initiated by single electron transfer reaction formation. Cyclopentane derivates synthesized through 3-3 coupling cyclization. Polystyrene polycaprolactone full monomer conversion KMP via polymerization, This work therefore two different from same system, saves time, labour, resource energy expands mode method libraries chemistry chemistry.

Cinnamic ester is a common and abundant chemical substance, which can be extracted from natural plants. Compared with traditional esters, cinnamic contains α,β-unsaturated carbonyl structure multiple reactive sites, resulting in more reactivities structures. Here, versatile polymerization-induced emission (PIE) successfully demonstrated through Barbier polymerization of ester. Attributed to its structure, esters different organodihalides gives polyalcohol polyketone via 1,2-addition 1,4-addition, respectively, also confirmed by small molecular model reactions. Meanwhile, these dependant exhibit non-traditional intrinsic luminescence (NTIL) aggregation-induced (AIE) type aggregation-caused quenching (ACQ) type, where novel PIE luminogens (PIEgens) are revealed. Further potential applications explosive detection carried out, it achieves TNT sensitivity at ppm level solution ng on the test paper. This work therefore expands functionality libraries monomer, polymer NTIL, might cause inspirations fields including chemistry, AIE PIE.

The controlled preparation of polymers with narrow molecular weight distribution (Đ) is highly desirable in polymer science, which generally requires relatively rigorous conditions like inert atmosphere, low temperature, or moderate conversion to reduce undesired side reactions and built-in bimolecular termination. Here, the compatibility Barbier covalent-anionic-radical polymerization (CARP) demonstrated air divinylbenzene (DVB). Through this CARP air, distributed polystyrenes Đ as 1.09 are successfully prepared under mild full monomer conversion. DVB enables poly(para-divinylbenzene) 1.29, exhibits versatile postpolymerization modification properties. Unpredictably, benzylic hydrogen atom affects significantly. This work therefore expands method library for Đ, where not required.

Abstract The properties of polyethylene are highly dependent on the variety and quantity substitutions. Generally, can only be fully substituted with fluorine atoms, mainly e. g., polytetrafluoroethylene nafion, because atomic radius atom is small enough. preparation analogues (FSPEA) their non‐traditional intrinsic luminescence (NTIL) attractive, especially for substitutions relatively larger radii than a atom. Here, Barbier polymerization‐induced emission (PIE) demonstrated as universal method molecular design NTIL type FSPEAs intriguing aggregation‐induced (AIE) behaviors. Through polymerization diphenyldichloromethane different peroxyesters in presence Mg one pot, series FSPEAs, including polytriphenylethanol (PTPE), polydiphenylfurylethanol (PDPFE), polydiphenylthiophenylethanol (PDPTE) polydiphenylnaphthylethanol (PDPNE) have been successfully prepared. Further potential applications explosive detection, artificial light‐harvesting system white phosphor‐converted light‐emitting diode investigated. Therefore, this work opens up new approach FSPEA non‐conjugated luminescence, which may cause inspirations to research fields like polyolefin luminescent materials.
