ABSTRACT In modern technological competition, environmental innovation is key to creating a win–win situation for the economy and environment driving force in achieving carbon neutrality goals. Based on role identity theory, this study establishes research framework of “role–cognition–behavior.” sample Chinese A‐share listed companies from 2012 2023, we analyze relationship between star CEOs firms' explore mediating interdependent self‐construal moderating risk perception. Our findings show that can actively promote innovation, effect mediated by self‐construal. addition, firm's perception positively moderates innovation. This enriches application theory provides an avenue realize their value.
