A two-dimensional amorphous iridium–cobalt oxide (Am-IrCo 5 O x ) was prepared, which exhibits a low overpotential of 230 mV at 10 mA cm −2 in 0.5 M H 2 SO 4 . DFT calculations show that the unsaturated Ir on surface acts as an active site.

An operated reinforced membrane electrode assembly anode was analyzed with high resolution. The fiber-reinforcement provided long-term stability, while nanomechanical and nanoelectrical aging especially observed at porous transport layer marks.
