Individuals with diabetes mellitus (DM) disclose a higher incidence and poorer prognosis of heart failure (HF) than non-diabetic people, even in the absence other HF risk factors. The adverse impact on likely reflects an underlying "diabetic cardiomyopathy" (DM-CMP), which may by exacerbated left ventricular hypertrophy coronary artery disease (CAD). pathogenesis DM-CMP has been hot topic research since its first description is still under active investigation, as complex interplay among multiple mechanisms play role at systemic, myocardial, cellular/molecular levels. Among these, metabolic abnormalities such lipotoxicity glucotoxicity, mitochondrial damage dysfunction, oxidative stress, abnormal calcium signaling, inflammation, epigenetic factors, others. These disturbances predispose diabetic to extracellular remodeling hypertrophy, thus leading diastolic systolic dysfunction. This Review aims outline major pathophysiological changes myocardial cardiac functional derangement DM-CMP.

BACKGROUND:The hemoglobin, albumin, lymphocyte, and platelet (HALP) score is a prognostic factor in patients who have some types of malignant tumors. The aim this study was to investigate the significance HALP with small cell lung cancer (SCLC) before first-line treatment etoposide. MATERIAL AND METHODS:A retrospective included 178 SCLC received chemotherapy etoposide between September 2015 May 2019. baseline clinical characteristics blood parameters were recorded. Univariate multivariate analysis Kaplan-Meier plots used identify factors associated progression-free survival (PFS). RESULTS:The optimal cut-off values determined by X-tile software be 25.8. showed that patients, score, body mass index (BMI), serum albumin levels had no significance. In patient age group <65 years, BMI ≥24 kg/m² an independent (HR, 1.943; 95% CI, 1.251–3.018) (P=0.003). ≥65 >25.8 positive for outcome following 0.483; 0.270–0.865) (P=0.014). CONCLUSIONS:In years underwent etoposide, factor, predictor improved outcome, increased PFS.

Obesity is a global epidemic disease that closely associated with various health problems as Diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular, and metabolic disorders. Lycopene (LYC), red-colored carotenoid, has demonstrated promising therapeutic effects. Hence, the potential of LYC was studied against high fat diet (HFD)-induced obesity disturbances in rats. Animals fed on HFD orally supplemented (25 50 mg/kg) or simvastatin (10 every day for 3 months. The results revealed long-term consumption significantly increased weight gain, liver weight, cholesterol, triglycerides (TG), apolipoprotein-B (Apo-B), low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-c) levels, well decreasing high-density (HDL-c) levels. Moreover, blood glucose insulin levels accompanied by low peroxisome proliferator activated receptor gamma (PPAR-γ) were recorded group. Further, rats displayed lower antioxidant biomarkers (SOD, CAT, GPx, GR GSH), addition to higher MDA, NO inflammatory mediators (IL-1β, TNF-α, MPO). Marked increases observed atherogenic index, lactate dehydrogenase creatine kinase together fibrosis markers (TGF-β1 α-SMA) HFD. Comparing model group, able effectively reverse HFD-mediated alterations at dose dependent manner. Altogether, dietary supplementation successfully reversed HFD-induced through its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-fibrotic properties. manage pathologies.

Nurses are at risk of having burnout due to workload and job stress-studies have reported that chronic stress is associated with metabolic syndrome. This study aimed assess the association between syndrome in a sample female nurses. Data were collected from cross-sectional 2016 2018 tertiary hospital Mexico City. All nurses work invited participate. Information pertaining sociodemographic (age, education level), (labor seniority, service area, shift work), anthropometric (weight, waist circumference, blood pressure) biochemical (glucose, serum lipids) variables collected. Burnout was assessed using Maslach Inventory test, defined according International Diabetes Federation criteria. A total 168 participated median age 44 years. The prevalence 19.6% 38.7%, respectively. There no (p = 0.373). However, associations emotional exhaustion (aOR: 14.95; 95% CI: 1.5-148.7), personal accomplishment 0.13; 0.01-0.99), night 12.39; 1.02-150.5) increased circumference found. Strategies needed prevent nurses, especially those who shift.
