Flies (Diptera) are among the most diverse groups of insects and known to utilize various food resources, including plants, detritus, microbial tissues, fresh dead animal tissues. However, their feeding habits in field remain poorly understood. We conducted a pilot study apply stable nitrogen (N) carbon (C) isotope techniques examine flies tropical rain forest Sarawak, Malaysia. The fly samples comprised 13 families more than 18 species. results showed significant differences ratios (d15N d13C) species within family. observed pattern is largely consistent with habits; that use carcasses carrion as diets (e.g., Sarcophagidae Calliphoridae) have significantly higher d15N values those likely utilizing plant-based Cecidomyiidae). There were six Calliphoridae, which partly insect succession on carcasses. d15Nmay be explained by at different stages decomposition, because decomposition can lead 15N enrichment. Tachinid had relatively low d13C values, reflecting lepidopterans parasitoids. This shows would provide insights into diversity communities, could also serve an indicator resource availability entire ecosystem.

Agroforestry systems contribute to entomological conservation by allowing the development of interactions that maintain stability agroecosystem. To determine diversity insect families and their trophic guilds associated with agroforestry immersed in mountain mesophyll forest, two agricultural (agroforestry agrosilvopastoral) were studied Atzalan, municipality Xochiapulco, Puebla, Mexico. Insect collections conducted at 10 sites from November 2021 October 2022. The frequencies observation (FO), richness estimator (Jackknife test), indices relative abundance (RAI), (Shannon-Wiener), equity, evenness (Jaccard) determined. Kruskal-Wallis, χ2 cluster analysis tests performed. showed high values for Drosophilidae (34.15 %), Tachinidae (9.45 Sciaridae (4.95 %). RAI had higher (0.68), (0.18), (0.09). Jackknife test presented average 70.1, 91.7, 94.77. Shannon-Wiener index exhibited an H ́ = 3.78, 4.12, 4.18. Jaccard displayed 45, 53, 55 %, respectively. Kruskal-Wallis significant differences abundance, richness, diversity. agrosilvicultural condition not as expected model. Cluster formation two, three clusters five, three, respectively, richness. evaluated harbor a apply differential use available resource allow ecological balance analyzed agroecosystems. It is recommended broaden structural complexity order resources.

DNA barcoding has been used worldwide to identify biological specimens and delimit species. It represents a cost-effective, fast, efficient way assess biodiversity with help of the public Barcode Life Database (BOLD) accounting for more than 236,000 animal species 10 million barcode sequences. Here, we performed meta-analysis available data central European Coleoptera detect intraspecific genetic patterns among ecological groups in relation geographic distance aim investigate possible link between infraspecific variation ecology. We collected information regarding feeding style, body size, as well habitat biotope preferences. Mantel tests two variants Procrustes analysis, both involving Principal Coordinates Neighborhood Matrices (PCNM) approach, were applied on matrices. However, significance levels too low further use outcome trait investigation: these mean all guilds only 7.5, 9.4, or 15.6% PCNM + PCA, NMDS test, respectively, at best 28% single guild. Our study confirmed that certain traits associated higher diversity foster stronger differentiation. Results suggest increased numbers species, sampling localities, chosen area interest may give new insights explore ecology scope conservation larger scale. beetles distance, investigation.
