Abstract The sighting of giant bivalves and tubeworms at the Rose Garden vent field on Galápagos Rift in 1977 marked discovery hydrothermal vents, a turning point for modern biology. following decade saw flurry taxonomic descriptions endemic species from first vents. With finding high-temperature ‘black smokers’ East Pacific Rise, exploration shifted away Galápagos. A faunal list vents with 65 was published 1991, then updated to 74 2006. Since then, few expeditions returned Rift. Here, we revisited several including recently confirmed sites inactive sulfide mounds. From our collecting efforts observations, as well revisions literature, update 92 15 new records, restricted obvious associates. Accurate regional lists are important understanding biogeography fauna, will also be valuable setting management strategies.
