Background Olfactory dysfunction (OD) and gustatory (GD) are common among adults, with prevalence increasing significantly in older age groups. Both dysfunctions have negative effects on appetite, nutrition, social functioning even environmental safety. OD GD frequently coexist, indicating a possible close association between these conditions. At present, there is lack of large-sample epidemiological studies the relationship GD. Our study aims to investigate using both measurement questionnaire data from 2013–2014 NHANES for US adults aged 40 years older. Methods This cross-sectional utilized National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). were assessed by measurements questionnaires. The was investigated logistic regression models adjusting demographic characteristics, systemic diseases, diseases nose pharynx. Adjusted odds ratios (aORs) 95% confidence intervals (CIs) presented. Results Participants complete olfactory questionnaires ( n = 2,582) included. Using whole-mouth measurements, anosmia increased hypogeusia ageusia after confounding factors. Similarly, revealed that However, hyposmia decreased tongue-tip taste measurement. Conclusion findings highlighted closely associated nationally representative sample adults.
