Invasive alien species are driving global biodiversity loss, compromising ecosystem function and service provision, human, animal plant health. Habitat characteristics geographical origin may predict invasion success, in aquatic environments could be mediated principally by salinity tolerance. Crustacean invaders causing problems we urgently require better predictive power of their invasiveness. Here, compiled gammarid (Crustacea: Amphipoda: Gammaroidea) diversity examined tolerances regions to test whether these factors success. Across 918 within this superfamily, relatively few gammarids ( n = 27, 3%) were reported as aliens, despite extensive opportunities high numbers published studies on amphipod invasions. However, disproportionately salt-tolerant (i.e. 32% brackish-water species), with significantly lower proportions aliens originating from freshwater marine (both 1%). Alien also disproportionally originated the Ponto-Caspian (20% taxa) when compared all ‘other' grouped (1%), invaded Eurasian waters, translocations taxa freshwaters being pervasive. This suggests habitat characteristics, alongside regional contexts, help invasibility. In particular, broad environmental harsh associated evolutionary history probably promote success globally.

Abstract Questions The spread of alien plant species is one the main threats to biodiversity different natural habitats, and coastal dune habitats are among most affected. There a considerable local regional variation in level invasion on dunes. We asked what patterns across European dunes how they depend habitat types regions. Location Atlantic, Baltic, Black Sea Mediterranean coasts Europe. Methods used vegetation‐plot records from shifting stable grasslands extracted Vegetation Archive (EVA). quantified richness, frequency distribution (neophyte) also explored donor trajectories these species. Results In flora dunes, 7% were neophytes, for two‐thirds originating outside Europe mostly naturalised ruderal. Shifting similar neophyte composition, but there more individual occurrences neophytes composition differed considerably between highest number was observed Atlantic while Most originated North America Mediterranean‐Turanian region. Erigeron canadensis , Xanthium orientale, Oenothera biennis oakesiana common neophytes. Conclusions provided comprehensive assessment invasions highlighted that should be focus management strategies.

Economic assessments for invasive alien species (IAS) are an urgent requirement informed decision-making, coordinating and motivating the allocation of economic human resources management IAS. We searched costs IAS occurring in Spain, by using InvaCost database requesting data to regional governments national authorities, which resulted over 3,000 cost entries. Considering only robust (i.e. excluding extrapolated, potential (not-incurred or expected) low reliability costs), Spain were estimated at US$ 261 million (€ 232 million) from 1997 2022. There was increase 4 per year before 2000 15 last years (from € 13 million).
