In this study, Batem Pınarı, Interdonato, Meyer, and Ak Limon lemon cultivars were studied. Lemon peel's essential oils obtained by two different methods (hydrodistillation cold pressing) during four harvest periods for each cultivar. Essential oil content, density, refractive index, optical activity, composition evaluated. The highest amount was found in the Interdonato cultivar (2.54%) lowest (1.37%). density value 0.8471 g/mL (Ak Limon) 0.8423 (Meyer). densities pressing higher than those hydrodistillation. index values determined Pınarı Meyer (1.4747), (1.4740). Optical activity to be following hydrodistillation pressing. compositions of samples showed significant differences depending on isolation method. Limonene, component proportionally, composed 76.0%–89.0% samples. limonene content (88.7%), (76.7%). Limonene did not change significantly between (82.2%) press methods. Findings show that there is variation quality parameters peel oils.

Abstract Drying is the primary processing step in Exocarpium citri grandis (ECG), yet its quality changes throughout drying process have not been elucidated. Dynamic of behavior, structure, color, active components, antioxidant properties, and volatile oil ECG under different temperatures (50, 60, 70, 80°C) were investigated, change mechanism was revealed. Results showed that moisture ratio decreased rapidly structural damage occurred as content from 1.0000 to 0.2175 g/g (on a dry basis, d.b.), which accelerated flavonoids, polysaccharides, oil, activity degradation, whereas levels naringin rhoifolin increased. The above with increasing temperature. Correlation analysis revealed components had synergistic effect on activity, total color difference (Δ E ) value could be well fitted by linear mathematical model correlation coefficient ( R 2 0.7749–0.9781. Moreover, all indicators uniformly quantified using comprehensive evaluation method obtain score, highest (0.57) at 70°C, high efficiency, quality, low energy consumption. biosynthesis pathway verified species increased, including newly terpenes, alcohols, aldehydes, esters, others after g/g. This study before g/g, then metabolite increased during drying, obtained optimal temperature (70°C).

Antioxidant properties of indigenous Indian (ICO) and commercial (CCO) chamomile essential oils (EOs) their application in preventing lipid oxidation fish oil were investigated. Solid-phase micro-extraction gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (SPME-GCMS) revealed dominant compounds to be α-bisabolol chamazulene ICO, while α-farnesene δ-cadinene CCO. Both EOs exhibited similar 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity oxygen absorbance capacity (ORAC) values but ICO showed superior effect β-carotene/linoleic system. When applied Asian seabass visceral depot fat (SVDFO), (400 mg/L) significantly reduced peroxide after 15 days (30°C) slightly lowered thiobarbituric acid reactive substances anisidine values. comparable efficacy the polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) 200 mg/L butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) within 0-12 days. Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) analysis confirmed preservation PUFA double bonds by ICO. Therefore, EOs, especially could prevent peroxidation PUFA-rich oils.

Objective: This study presents a stepwise-heating hydrodistillation to collect the fruit of Litsea cubeba essential oil (EO) from different temperature ranges. The differences between qualitative and quantitative properties these EOs effects on antioxidant antibacterial activity were investigated. Methods: chemical composition was analysed by means Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy analysis (GC-MS); moreover, 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) made evaluate activity. In addition, disk diffusion method minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) employed antimicrobial activities against Staphylococcus aureus Escherichia coli. Results: total yield EO 4.95% (v/w), with collected at 95 °C 98 (LCF-1), 99 (LCF-2), 100 (LCF-3) accounting for 8.60%, 84.83%, 6.53% this yield, respectively. A 14, 17, 19 compounds identified, representing 98.17%, 98.69%, 97.52% content LCF-1, LCF-2, LCF-3, These fractions primarily contained limonene (11.46%−31.57%), neral (19.75%−33.57%), geranial (24.63%−40.38%). LCF-3 had highest radical scavenging activity, LCF-2 strongest effect S. growth, LCF-1 stronger ability inhibit E. coli than did LCF-3. addition 3 main ingredients aforementioned, some minor components, such as verbenol, β-caryophyllene, α-pinene that may also affect fractions. Conclusion: demonstrated in components extracted three ranges, resulting exhibiting distinct expression antioxidative Therefore, paper provides an innovative extraction strategy recover specific range according biological required.

Bergamot [Citrus × limon (L.) Osbeck, syn. C. bergamia (Risso) Risso & Poit.] is primarily cultivated in the Calabria region of Italy and exploited food perfumery industry. The epicarp its fruit a rich source essential oil (BEO) containing mainly monoterpenes, which are known for their diverse biological activities, including antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antiproliferative, neuromodulatory effects. Emerging evidence suggests that oxidative stress plays central role pathogenesis neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer’s disease (AD), where it contributes to neuronal dysfunction cell death. Moreover, heavy metal exposure has been identified as key environmental factor exacerbating neurodegeneration AD. This study aimed explore whether BEO could mitigate (Cd2+, Hg2+, Pb2+)-induced neurotoxicity SH-SY5Y cells, model system brain cells. MTT calcein-AM assays were performed examine viability cells after each itself, or combination with BEO, whereas LDH assay was carried out determine effects towards necrotic death induced by metals. Furthermore, DCFH-DA protect from metal-induced stress. also investigated antibacterial properties on different Gram-positive Gram-negative bacterial strains belonging ATCC collection. These results suggest may help counteract damage, Cd2+ toxicity, potentially reducing one risk factors associated Additionally, antimicrobial reinforce relevance preventing infections contribute neuroinflammation

Abstract The use of antioxidants is known to reduce lipid oxidation. This study aimed assess the interaction two antioxidant mechanisms, namely, “chain‐breaking” and “termination‐enhancing” by combining natural derived from “oregano” ( Origanum vulgare L.) “peperina” Minthostachys mollis K.) essential oils (EOs) in an accelerated oxidation process sunflower oil at 60°C. Concentrations 0.05% w/w (1) 0.02% (2) combined oregano peperina EOs were evaluated. Chemical volatile markers determined comparison with pure compounds, antioxidant‐free control, a BHT‐treated sample (0.02% w/w). Although combinations exhibited lower indicator values (Anisidine ≈ 136) compared control 213), no evidence synergistic effect was observed (Anisidine: Oregano 1 52; 2 199; Peperina 155; 153), indicating that combination did not enhance their activity beyond EOs. Thus, evaluating these other food matrices important. Practical Application Food one main causes spoilage, search for has become necessity society's increasing knowledge consumption preference. research focused on demonstrating only phenolic compounds mechanism have efficient but also non‐phenolic terpenes using “termination enhancer” are efficient, them, which provides more alternative industrial applications.
