Extending the shelf life of perishable food, such as apples, and storing them in cold conditions and/or controlled atmospheres have been great interest last decades. Apples are very valuable fruits with many health benefits, but during storage at ambient conditions, they ripen quickly lose moisture, causing lower crispness or other negative effects, resulting waste problems. There has growing attention to protective edible coatings active packaging films based on biopolymers natural bioactive substances. Edible allow for combination functional ingredients compounds, affecting maintenance postharvest quality vegetables. They also ensure preservation sensory characteristics can antimicrobial antioxidant properties. All these aspects play a significant role which help prevent waste, is line circular economy approach. The functionality closely related type, content, composition well their interaction biopolymers. Active addition different plant extracts, phenolic acids, nanoparticles, be an alternative solution apples storage, maintaining fruit’s stability, thus minimising waste. most important issues latest reports improving using incorporated various substances were evaluated. Agricultural factors that affect described. requirements should focused low-cost materials, including waste-based resources, good miscibility, compatibility components. Those combined may result extension retention regardless variety cultivation techniques.

Abstract Papaya ( Carica papaya L.) is a typical climacteric fruit with brief shelf life due to the rapid degradation of quality during post-ripening, necessitating appropriate postharvest management address this challenge. This study aimed investigate characteristics thyme oil nanoemulsion (TO-NE) coating and utilize its benefits for preserving papaya. also investigated physiological properties changes storage at 20 ℃ and, in parallel, examined effects TO-NE mitigate microbial infection storage. The was soaked different concentrations (0.1, 0.25, 0.5 mg/g) coating. At same time, decay loss rate effective were evaluated. revealed that polygalacturonase (PG) pectinesterase (PME) activities inhibited treated 0.25 mg/g coated compared control group. resulted preservation firmness fruits, addition higher ascorbic acid content, delayed total soluble solids (TSS) accumulation, chlorophyll content (TCC) degradation, lagging color change two days. respiration ethylene production suppressed, while group day 14 (ethylene peak) 63.2 mg CO 2 kg −1 h 7.3 µL , lower than control. treatment significantly reduced 10 days storage, their appearance facilitating ripening. viable option extending Tainung No.2 life. Various polycations and polyanions were sequentially adsorbed onto the gold electrode of a quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation monitoring. The study focused on determining adsorption kinetics, viscoelastic properties, electroresponsivity polyelectrolyte layers. For first time, it was demonstrated that structure (compact or expanded) layers can be determined by electroresponsivity. Viscoelastic modeling alone did not provide conclusive answer as to whether compact expanded. further enriched streaming potential contact angle measurements, where multilayers formed mica. It found successive led periodic inversion zeta potential. Systematic differences observed between different top layers, which explained intermixing presence absence interpenetration, measurements angles, correlated well

ABSTRACT The polyvinyl alcohol/chitosan/graphene oxide/Ag composite films are facilely fabricated as active multifunctional food packaging materials. AgNPs of less than 10 nm immobilized onto CS/GO matrices in situ synthesized by using NaBH 4 a reductant. effect different amounts Ag and CS:GO weight ratios on the mechanical properties, water resistance, optical thermal stability, antibacterial activities various systematically investigated. film obtained at 0.5 wt% AgNP loading ratio 5:1 demonstrates significantly improved tensile strength (33.07 MPa, 1.7 times higher), reduced swelling (2.4 lower), increased contact angle (71.08° vs. 53.54°), enhanced stability compared to neat PVA film. Additionally, these exhibit excellent bacterial killing inhibition against Escherichia coli Staphylococcus aureus , with zones 10.09 12.66 mm, respectively. Interestingly, no viable bacteria were found film‐forming dispersion μg/mL. Furthermore, UV‐blocking effects, sufficiently protecting exposed green plums from UV damage for days. membrane‐packed acerola fruits also demonstrate better freshness, slower ripening rate, signs microbial growth those packed commercial polyethylene
