Aflatoxins (AFs) are secondary metabolites produced by Aspergillus section Flavi, mainly flavus and parasiticus. These species may infect food feed along entire agri-food chains, synthesizing the toxin when environmental conditions favorable. The scenario of climate change that world will have to face in next decades is expected increase levels AF contamination cereals, nuts, spices, legumes, among other important crops around world. This situation a great impact on human animal health, as well economic losses due rejection contaminated products during commercialization. Several mitigation strategies been implemented counteract this problem. Some them intended prevent synthesis, while others designed decontaminate pre-formed toxin. In addition, several pre- post-harvest shown effectivity. Besides physical chemical tools, biological control based different microorganisms use enzymes proposed promissory approaches mitigate risk contamination. chapter, detailed information about two developments presented: biocontrol prevention non-toxigenic A. strain fungal laccases AFs. integration these tools enhance quality feed, contributing safety chains.

Abstract This study investigates the proximate composition, aflatoxin contamination, and their implications on health wellbeing of broilers layers, as well comparison from two poultry feed manufacturing companies (C1 C2) located in Jos Kaduna, Nigeria. A total 168 samples were collected four types (starters, finishers, chicks, growers) these companies. Samples ground, sieved, analyzed for moisture, protein, fat, ash, fiber, carbohydrate, energy, content using standard methods. Proximate analysis results revealed significant differences nutritional components between locations. In C1, moisture ranged 8 to 18%, while C2, where levels 17%. The protein C1 C2 14.5% 24% ~ 25%. Fat was similar both (5%–8%) ash (5%–8%). Carbohydrate 46 62% 46% 60.8% C2. Aflatoxin exceeded recommended threshold 20 μg/kg, particularly starter feeds (S1, S3, S7) finisher S4). Statistical analyses that dominant factors influencing quality. Moisture contributed fungal growth subsequent with a positive correlation (r = 0.92) negative − 0.68). Higher may reduce concentration increase risk contamination. indicates contamination significantly affect across plants. Broilers exposed high experienced reduced rates, immunosuppression, increased mortality. Layers showed decreased egg production quality prolonged exposure. recommendations include improved control, regular testing, use detoxifying agents mitigate ensuring consumer safety.

Milk and dairy products are essential nutritious foods for all age groups, especially infants children. Their consumption can be dangerous due to a harmful substance called aflatoxin M1 (AFM1), the that comes from conversion of B1 present in animal feed. Due ingesting feed contaminated with B1, cattle secrete into their milk. Therefore, such as milk, cheese, yogurts have potential this toxic substance. Although its toxicity is lower than it relatively stable during storage, pasteurization, processing. Aflatoxins part most important group mycotoxins, mycotoxins being compounds produced mainly by fungi genera Aspergillus, Fusarium, Penicillium which contaminate many types food through stability chain reach consumer. Nowadays, contamination significant. The objective paper provide an overview importance mycotoxin M1, occurrence, factors influence transfer rates, method determining effects resulting mycotoxin. milk poses major risk mankind, these regularly consumed daily diet.
