Plastics play a crucial role in modern life, but their accumulation poses serious threat to both the environment and human health. Due effects on terrestrial aquatic environment, it is essential develop sustainable approaches dispose of waste plastics. Traditional methods plastic disposal, such as burning landfilling, are problematic since they produce hazardous byproducts. Biodegradation potentially effective, eco-friendly approach which uses microbial consortia or isolated enzymes break down waste. Enzymes interact with surfaces hydrolyse large polymer chains into smaller units. These byproducts can then be utilised carbon sources by microbes, eventually converted CO2 water. This review explores principal degradation, focus existing emerging polymers made readily biodegradable. In addition, valorisation for converting valuable considered. The implementation circular economy expected lead further development, including scaling up efficient bio-upcycling processes, serve stimulate environmental removal value-added use post-consumer streams.

Aim: The prevalence of plastic particles has become a global crisis for the environment pollution and human life. This study aimed to investigate contamination microplastics (MPs) in marine environments determine relationships between MPs types land use. Methodology: Two invertebrate species (Anadara granosa Litopenaeus vannamei) sediment samples were collected analysis accumulation Chanthaburi estuarine ecosystem. determined with visual identification environmental index, respectively. abundance use type Province compared by Geographic Information System (GIS). Results: white shrimps higher than cockles. black filamentous was major characteristic which ranged 0.43–0.85 mm, 0.45–0.65 mm 1.25 – 3.05 A. granosa, L. vannamei sediment, index (PLI BCF) showed low levels hazardous category. variation change strong correlation green areas contamination. Interpretation: statistical suggested differences our samples. The utilization agriculture forest could relieve impact accumulation. This also demonstrated need managing Thai ecosystems. ABSTRACT As human activities continue to increase, the production and utilisation of plastics have become pervasive, leading a surplus plastic waste in environment. This has turned terrestrial ecosystem, encompassing soil, into significant receptacle for growing accumulation discharge waste. Thus, objective this study is investigate occurrence, relationships, sources pollution levels microplastics urban soils from different land use Cyberjaya, Malaysia. Surface soil samples were collected uses (i.e., vacant areas, residential commercial construction areas roadways). These surface analysed microplastic occurrence using density separation, microscopy spectroscopy methods. The particles size, colour shape. Selected also its polymers Fourier‐Transform Infrared Spectroscopy. Microplastics ranged 0.3 1.5 particle/kg, with highest average area (0.69 particle/kg) lowest (0.33 particle/kg). particle size was shortest (586.08 μm) longest (793.78 μm). There no similarities between across these activities, suggesting that depends on external disturbances during each activity. Significant correlation temperature ( r 2 = 0.517) showed activity influenced by disturbances. I geo values level classified as uncontaminated moderately contaminated. Microplastic found various shapes fragments, films fibres) colours transparent, grey, blue, red, green, purple, black, white yellow) along polymer types ABS, PET, PP, PE PS) due traffic volume, tyre wear, mismanaged degradation rate. highlights need management disposal avoid environmental problems adverse health effects.

Due to its exceptional qualities, plastic is one of the materials that are most frequently produced and utilised worldwide. Microplastics (MPs), a new class emerging contaminants, have been in our environment as result increased manufacture consumption goods. In aquatic ecosystems, MPs (≤5 mm) contaminant ecotoxicologists becoming more concerned about, both for organism ecosystem. The primary ones MP size range remain such, whereas secondary fragmentation bigger particles, which subsequently penetrate aquatic, terrestrial, atmospheric ecosystems. variety physical-chemical characteristics make them multifunctional stressors, making it very challenging understand their effects. Despite fact contamination pervasive air, water, land, these ecosystems thought separately even though they actually interconnected. There comparatively fewer researches India on problem every aspect environment. Furthermore, there still much learn about effects different By evaluating scientific literature currently available, this review article aims convey current knowledge pollution India's systems, terrestrial atmosphere, food supply. cause consequences various organisms were discussed with available literature. end, report outlines issues makes recommendations direction future investigations into pollution. This would easier achieve objectives emergent control.
