Abstract
This
chapter
provides
an
overview
of
the
neurons
and
intrinsic
extrinsic
connections
rodent,
nonhuman
primate,
human
hippocampal
formation.
While
hippocampus
related
cortical
regions
have
many
same
excitatory
inhibitory
as
other
regions,
it
also
has
at
least
a
few
neuron
types,
like
mossy
cell,
that
do
not
occur
in
areas.
What
is
most
distinctive
about
formation
organization
its
connections,
which
are
generally,
though
exclusively,
unidirectional.
