The increasing overexploitation and pollution of freshater resources are potential threats for public health, causing cross-contamination among the interconnected environmental compartments (freshwater, soil, crops). In particular, contaminants emerging concern (CECs) originating from anthropic activities not completely removed by wastewater treatments plants. This leads to their presence in drinking water (DW) sources, soil crops intended human consumption due discharges treated surface waters direct reuse practices. Currently, health risk assessments limited single exposure sources without considering multiple routes which humans subjected. For instance, CECs, bisphenol A (BPA) nonylphenol (NP), respectively, adversely affect immune renal systems have been frequently detected DW food, major humans. Here, an integrated procedure is proposed quantitatively assess CECs both relevant inter-connected compartments. was applied BPA NP calculate probabilistic Benchmark Quotient (BQ), showing its apportioning between use as a decision support tool prioritizing mitigation measures. Our results indicate that, even though negligible, estimated significantly higher, food edible determines higher compared tap water. Polymers are the main building blocks of plastic, with annual global production volume fossil carbon-based polymers reaching over 457 million metric tons in 2019 and this figure is anticipated to triple by 2060. There potential for environmental harm adverse human health impacts associated its constituent chemicals therein, at all stages plastic life cycle, from extraction raw materials, manufacturing, consumption, through ultimate disposal waste management. While there have been considerable research policy efforts identifying mitigating problematic products such as single-use plastics hazardous plastics, national and/or international regulations phase out their use, often overlooked. In review, polymer dimension current knowledge on release, exposure discussed across including used additives commonly achieve properties needed applications which generally used. Abstract Bisphenol A (BPA) is a substance that can migrate from polycarbonate plastic packaging to food or beverages. Several countries have banned the use of BPA in various packaging, while other still looser regulations.
