This study addresses the existing research gap by investigating influence students’ mental health and various protective factors (i.e., optimism, help-seeking behaviors, social support) on academic persistence, an indicator student retention. We utilized structural equation modeling approach examine effect conditions, risk perception persistence through a sample 1,051 from 45 states. Students’ positively predicted persistence. Risk was negatively associated with but behaviors. Optimism fully mediated behaviors did not mediate Social support underscores integral role in supporting Universities should develop targeted programs address needs promote These initiatives can enhance thereby aiding retention affected this or any future global crisis.

In this narrative review, based on broad literature search PubMed, Web Science, Google Scholar, we outline five core intersect with the notions equity inclusion: (i) access, use engagement DMDs, (ii) inclusiveness DMD clinical trials, (iii) algorithm fairness, (iv) surveillance datafication, (v) data privacy trust. By integrating from multidisciplinary fields, including social, medical, computer sciences, shed light challenges opportunities related development adoption DMDs. We begin an overview different types followed in-depth discussions implications associated their deployment. Concluding our provide evidence-based multilevel recommendations aimed at fostering more inclusive landscape integration DMDs mitigate rather than cause, maintain or exacerbate health inequities.

Abstract College student mental health has been a critical concern for professional counselors. Anxiety and depressive disorders have become increasingly prevalent over the past decade. Utilizing machine learning, subset of artificial intelligence (AI), we developed predictive models (i.e., eXtreme Gradient Boosting [XGBoost], Random Forest, Decision Tree, Logistic Regression) to identify US college students at heightened risk diagnosable anxiety disorders. The dataset included 61,619 from 133 higher education institutions was partitioned into 90:10 ratio training testing models. We employed hyperparameter tuning cross‐validation optimize model performance examined multiple measures (e.g., area under receiver operating characteristic curve [AUC], accuracy, sensitivity). Results revealed strong discriminative power in our learning with AUC 0.74 0.77, indicating current financial situation, sense belonging on campus, disability status, age as top predictors This study provides practical tool counselors proactively before these conditions escalate. Application counseling research data‐driven insights that help enhance understanding determinants, guide prevention intervention strategies, promote well‐being diverse populations through counseling.
