Abstract The rise of digital labour platforms has made side‐hustles a defining feature modern work. debate over whether benefit or burden full‐time work remains unresolved. We propose side‐hustle thriving as key factor. Drawing on the conservation resources theory, we theorize dual pathways: Side‐hustle enhances performance through psychological detachment from and affective well‐being within employees' roles (resource gain), yet simultaneously impairs it via attention residue resource depletion depletion). Two studies, one with 10‐day experience sampling (N = 97, 644 observations) another multisource, multiwave design 247), support this framework. Crucially, identify boundary segmentation preference between moderator: Employees who strongly separate domains amplify gain pathway while mitigating depletion. This research offers nuanced framework for managing multiple jobholding in gig economy era.
