Inland surface water is often the most accessible freshwater source. Evaluating and analyzing cultivated land ecological security (ES) can reliably optimize ecosystem service supplies in lands. This study selected Enshi Autonomous Prefecture (Enshi Prefecture) as the research area, aiming to assess spatiotemporal variability of ES level analyze its main obstacle factors, thus providing paths for enhancement. Monitoring long-term vegetation dynamics is essential for developing adaptation strategy to address the challenges ecosystem posed by climate change and human activities. This study analyzed spatio-temporal changes of normalized difference index (NDVI) in Hulun Lake Basin (HLB) from 1981 2019, explored relationship between climatic factors NDVI datasets. Furthermore, residual trend (RESTREND) method was used distinguish impacts activities on dynamics. The results showed that basin initially increased 1990s, then decreased mid-2000s, finally rebounded 2019 owing periodic fluctuations precipitation. There were 28.32% pixels significantly increasing 13.85% decreasing. increase proportion coverage forest, wetland cultivated land higher than other types. China Grass Zone (CGZ) degraded 20.39% compared with Mongolia (MGZ) 5.60%. correlated precipitation weakly temperature HLB, principal factor influencing coverage. RESTREND revealed farmland reclamation, over-grazing, open-pit mining led greater browning CGZ MGZ. Meanwhile, implementation ecological protection restoration projects have helped greening (20.91%) MGZ (7.45%). China's are important reverse serious degradation.
