Food insecurity has disproportionately impacted Hispanic/Latinx households in the United States, specifically those with young children. Although literature provides evidence of an association between food and adverse health outcomes children, minimal research addressed social determinants related risk factors associated among children under three, a highly vulnerable population. Using Socio-Ecological Model (SEM) as framework, this narrative review identified three. A search was conducted using PubMed four additional engines. Inclusion criteria consisted articles published English from November 1996 to May 2022 that examined Articles were excluded if settings other than US and/or focused on refugees temporary migrant workers. ABSTRACT Food insecurity is a major public health issue. Millions of households worldwide have intermittent and unpredictable access to food this experience associated with greater risk for host negative outcomes. Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) results from genetic susceptibility, gut microbiome, and environmental factors. Diet, one modifiable factor, has been linked to the increased prevalence of IBD. This study aimed evaluate a potential association between food deserts severity at diagnosis. retrospective included newly diagnosed IBD patients (ages 2 21 years age; January 1, 2019, December 31, 2021). The United States Department Agriculture (USDA's) Food Access Research Atlas was used determine if resided in desert. Modified Retail Environment Index (mRFEI) determined ratio healthy unhealthy options. primary endpoint diagnosis based on endoscopy scores. Statistical analyses were applied as appropriate. Ninety-eight enrolled (75 [77%] Crohn' disease; 23 [23%] ulcerative colitis), 59 (60%) identified Non-Hispanic White. Fifteen (15%) lived consisted more Black than White (67%; p = 0.05), public insurance (12; 80%), lower median vitamin D (17.6 [interquartile range (IQR): 10.8-24.]). In an adjusted (sex, age, insurance, race) multivariable model mRFEI associated with reduced odds living desert (0.91 [95% confidence interval (CI): 0.83-0.98]). There no difference or swamp. have less access retailers higher rates retailers. Further work is needed better understand spatial disparities related accessibility

Participants (N = 515, 77.1 % female, 44.1 ± 14.7 years old) completed a validated online survey August November of 2020 including questions about security behaviors. A multivariable linear regression model was used to evaluate eating. Pearson were calculated assess relationship behavior. Overall, 31.3 participants experienced insecurity. Food associated with higher crude (beta 0.33; 95 confidence level [CL]: 0.15, 0.52), but not fully adjusted 0.15; CL: -0.06, 0.37). Intakes sugary snacks (r 0.16, p < 0.01) salty 0.14, weakly positively correlated scores, while intakes vegetables -0.13, alcohol -0.09, 0.03) negatively In this study, intake energy-dense foods. Backgrounds: Korean society is entering an aging society, and this phenomenon indicates the need for preparation in society. In such a situation, exploring characteristics of elderly can be considered important preparation. The objective study to identify determinants medical expenses among older adults South Korea. key factors analyzed include food, leisure, housing expenses, as well lifestyle choices drinking smoking. Method: Data from Longitudinal Study Aging, covering 7374 observations years 2018 2020, are adopted statistical analysis. This research explores inverted-U-shape effect expenditures on costs, grounded concepts diminishing marginal utility mental accounting. A quadratic panel regression analysis used test hypotheses, controlling variables birth year, gender, personal assets. Results: results show that food have inverted-U relationship with based accounting theoretical foundation. However, leisure drinking, smoking do not significantly affect expenses. Furthermore, identifies optimal expenditure levels maximizing spending through first-order condition. Conclusions: These findings provide insights development policies aimed at improving financial well-being Moreover, contributes literature by applying law better understand behavior adults.

Abstract Purpose Increasing food insecurity (FIS) in the UK presents a major challenge to public health. Universal Credit (UC) claimants are disproportionately impacted by FIS but research on socio-demographic factors and consequent nutritional security is limited. Methods A cross-sectional online survey (September 2021 - April 2022) assessed UC (males females, n = 328) (USDA 10 question module), dietary intake (females, 43; 3–4 × 24-hour recalls) coping strategies. Binary logistic regression tested sociodemographic variables influencing odds of insecurity. Diets ofUC were compared with national diet nutrition (NDNS) participants thematic analysis conducted for drivers impacts FIS. Results was experienced 84.8% respondents (73.8% very low security). Equivalised income <£200 week -1 increased 7.3 (3.4–15.3) times households receiving >£300 . Intakes vitamin A, iron, selenium, potassium, iodine magnesium consistently below most cohorts. Participants felt impotent make substantive changes their diets due poverty. Conclusion During this study, dependence almost guaranteed recipients would be insecure, consuming insufficient micronutrients support MIS may provide useful benchmark prevent
