ABSTRACT Background Paediatric obesity is a global public health concern. While in most countries the incidence keeps rising, need for effective and long‐term management children adolescents living with this chronic, relapsing disease pressing. Health behaviour lifestyle treatment (HBLT) recommended as first‐line treatment. Methods Narrative review. Results A new generation of recently approved anti‐obesity medications (AOM) now has potential to fill gap between limited effects on body mass index (BMI) by HBLT alone large metabolic bariatric surgery aged 12 years older. While, semaglutide phentermine/topiramate, effectiveness substantial relevant, but mostly mild moderate adverse events, there evidence regarding safety, outcomes beyond BMI reduction data certain groups patients, such < minority groups. When integrating AOM into national healthcare systems it should be offered part comprehensive patient‐centred approach. Conclusion This article summarizes recent developments, integration paediatric management, identifies research gaps.

Importance In 2022, the US House of Representatives passed a bipartisan resolution (House Resolution 1118 at 117th Congress [2021-2022]) calling for meaningful nutrition education medical trainees. This was prompted by increasing health care spending attributed to growing prevalence nutrition-related diseases and substantial federal funding via Medicare that supports graduate education. March 2023, professional organizations agreed identify competencies Objective To recommend inclusion in improve patient population health. Evidence Review The research team conducted rapid literature review existing published between July 2013 2023. Abstract Aims We assessed changes in body composition following tirzepatide treatment a substudy of participants with obesity or overweight from the SURMOUNT‐1 trial, overall and post hoc clinically relevant subgroups. Materials Methods Substudy ( n = 160 2539 SURMOUNT‐1) underwent dual‐energy X‐ray absorptiometry (DXA) at baseline Week 72. Body parameters were evaluated by analysis covariance, logistic regression Fisher's exact test. Post subgroup analyses conducted sex (female male), age (<50, 50 to <65, ≥65 years) total weight reduction tertiles (≤15.3 kg, >15.3 ≤25.9 >25.9 kg). Results The (pooled doses 124, placebo 36) end study DXA data 73% female had mean 102.5 kg mass index 38.0 kg/m 2 . change weight, fat lean 72 was −21.3%, −33.9% −10.9% −5.3%, −8.2% −2.6% placebo, respectively p < 0.001 for all comparisons). Of lost, approximately 75% 25% both placebo. These proportions remained consistent across most analyses. Conclusions In significantly reduced compared while analyses, proportion lost as relatively including

Abstract Incretin mimetics, including glucagon‐like peptide‐1 and glucose‐dependent insulinotropic polypeptide agonists, have become first‐line treatment options for the of type 2 diabetes obesity. Their therapeutic status is attributed to their high level efficacy as well positive impact on related comorbidities, such sleep apnea heart failure. Multiple incretin mimetics are currently available with different durations drug action, dosing frequencies, delivery devices. Patients may benefit from education proper administration, anticipated adverse effects, nutrition considerations treatment. Practitioners must monitor progress support patient achieve maintenance doses optimal weight reduction diabetes‐related outcomes. This review aims present current literature supporting US Food Drug Administration–approved indications equip healthcare professionals optimize care patients who prescribed these agents, provide insights into potential future applications, which include dual‐ or triple‐mechanism agents that injected administered orally. Additional studies existing diabetes, obesity, comorbidities in a rapidly developing pipeline.

Observing a patient's dietary behaviour before bariatric surgery may help to predict their diet (and indirectly, the rate of weight loss) after procedure. Consequently, aim this study was identify patterns (DPs) in candidates, as well assess relationship between DPs, degree obesity, and body composition. The participants were comprised 117 candidates. Data concerning diet, lifestyle, socioeconomic status collected using KomPAN® questionnaire. following three DPs identified principal component analysis: 'Sandwiches & Sweets', 'Fast Food, Convenience Food Alcohol' 'Prudent'. Baseline nutritional composition electric bioimpedance assessed. Differences found Prudent DP primarily involved high consumption healthy products. Following DP, differentiated obesity most. In turn, Fast Alcohol associated with higher likelihood Degree III very visceral fat level (VFL). Sandwiches Sweets included most VFL. candidates shown follow different diets, could be identified. Patients followed more beneficial which likely due awareness risks morbidity post-surgical complications. Socioeconomic factors attenuate association
