Abstract Background Feasibility of exercise in patients with metastatic cancer is still a challenge. This study aimed to determine the feasibility and preliminary efficacy an intervention based on patient-preferred delivery mode affected by cancer. Materials Methods Forty-four confirmed diagnosis were recruited 3-month program. Whereas program consisted aerobic resistance activities performed twice week, participants may choose delivery: home based, personal training, or group based. The primary endpoint was feasibility, defined recruitment rate, attendance, adherence, dropout tolerability (comparing session RPE target RPE), safety (using Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events, version 5.0). Secondary endpoints included cardiorespiratory fitness (six minutes walking test), muscle strength (handgrip test isometric leg press flexibility (the back scratch chair sit reach tests), anthropometric parameters (body mass index waist-hip ratio), quality life (EORTC QLQ C-30 questionnaire), amount physical (Godin’s Shepard Leisure Time Exercise Questionnaire). Descriptive statistics, Student t test, Wilcoxon signed rank used analyze data. Results rate 81%. Out 44 patients, 28 chose training program, 16 home-based none group-based Nine dropouts occurred (20%), 6 3 intervention. median attendance 92%, adherence 88%, 100%, 9 nonsevere adverse events registered during sessions. An increase (P < .001) = .011 reach; P .040 scratch) observed at end intervention, while no changes values detected. Different quality-of-life domains improved following including .002), emotional .001), role functioning .018), fatigue .030), appetite loss .005). Conclusion A feasible improve function life. Background Globally, cancer predominates in adults aged older than 60 years, and 70% of have ≥1 chronic condition. Cancer self-management interventions can improve symptom management confidence, but few target the complex needs with multimorbidity. Despite growing evidence digital health tools care, there is a paucity theoretically grounded supports for adults. Many apps not been co-designed to ensure that they are tailored their specific needs, which would increase usability uptake. Objective We aim report on user evaluations self- symptom-management app support living Methods This study used Grey’s framework, design thinking approach, involved lived experiences medium-fidelity prototype. Older or caregivers were recruited through community organizations groups participate co-designing app. Data from interviews iteratively integrated into process analyzed using descriptive statistics thematic analyses. Results In total, 15 3 (n=18) participated this study: 10 (8 2 caregivers) low-fidelity prototype, evaluated (9 1 caregiver) prototype (2 both phases). Participants emphasized importance tracking functions make sense information across physical symptoms psychosocial aspects; clear display; organization notes reminders communicate care providers. also medication initiation cessation mitigate concerns related polypharmacy. Conclusions has potential cancer, creating “home base” support. The findings will position researchers conduct feasibility testing real-world implementation.

Advanced and metastatic cancers significantly alter body composition, leading to decreased lean mass variable effects on fat mass. These composition are associated with significant physical dysfunction poor prognosis in patients cancer. Whilst exercise nutritional interventions likely be of benefit counteracting these effects, relatively little is known about using such advanced or Therefore, this systematic review we examine the effect combined among diagnosed Following PRISMA guidelines, identified 20 articles from PubMed, EMBASE, CINAHL, Cochrane CENTRAL, PEDro, SPORTDiscus, REHABDATA. Overall, cancer populations comprising mixed types were most commonly examined (n = 8) being well-tolerated few adverse effects. Both intervention approaches may preserve mass, while only lead alterations However, further studies needed definitively understand their composition. As nutrition-related research continues understudied population, knowledge gained will help guide supportive clinical treatments.

Exercise can attenuate the deleterious combined effects of cancer treatment and aging among older adults with cancer, yet exercise participation is low. Telehealth may improve engagement by decreasing time transportation barriers; however, utility telehealth not well established. We aimed to evaluate preliminary effectiveness a one-on-one, supervised program on physical function, muscular endurance, balance, flexibility cancer. In this retrospective study, we analyzed electronic health record data collected from Personal Optimism With Recovery clinical delivered via (≥65 y) who completed virtual initial assessment between March 2020 December 2021. The included following measures: 30-second chair stand test, maximum push-up 2-minute standing march, single leg stance, plank, sit reach, shoulder range motion, clock test. All baseline measures were repeated after 12-weeks exercise. Change scores calculated for all assessments compared minimal clinically important difference (MCID) values published MCIDs. Paired samples t tests (2-tailed) conducted determine change in outcomes. Older chose participate (N=68) 71.8 (SD 5.3) years age average (range 65-92 y). 3 most common types sample breast (n=13), prostate multiple myeloma (n=8). stages represented stage II (n=16, 23.5%) III (n=18, 26.5%) being common. A follow-up was 29.4% (n=20) Among those assessment, there significant increases (n=19; mean +2.00 repetitions, 95% CI 0.12 3.88) (n=20; +2.85 1.60 4.11). There no differences mobility, or test (P>.05). Nine (47.3%) had greater than MCID 2 repetitions. Our findings suggest positively influence but more adequately powered trials are needed confirm these findings.

ABSTRACT Background Cancer cachexia has substantial impacts on people's quality of life. There is no current gold standard treatment, but the complex pathophysiology suggests that a multitargeted and individualised treatment approach needed. We aimed to evaluate extent which multicomponent interventions have targeted key features been tailored individuals, differential effects Methods conducted systematic review for adults with cancer cachexia. searched four databases, two clinical trial registers MedRxiv 20 June 2024. Intervention components were classified by intervention category (nutritional, exercise/physical activity, pharmacological psychosocial), feature(s) (reduced energy intake, altered metabolism, involuntary weight loss decline in physical function) level tailoring. Within‐arm standardised mean changes life over time, as well differences between study arms, calculated. Results Sixty‐two included, combined from all categories, nine Eighteen fully 30 partly individuals. calculated thirteen studies; had high risk bias or raised concerns. In eleven studies, scores improved following intervention, whereas studies they declined. Standardised arms three, arm showed greater improvement than usual care arm. Amongst these data, there was indication number targeted, tailoring, associated scores; however, heterogeneity prevented us concluding our hypothesis. Conclusions This mapped out detail combinations categories used, tailoring across Only small proportion cachexia, most either Despite sixty‐two being investigated, only compared reported outcomes. Abstract Purpose This systematic review aims to evaluate the feasibility, safety, and adherence of home-based exercise interventions in people diagnosed with cancer. The primary research question is: Are safe feasible for cancer? Methods A comprehensive search databases including PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library was conducted January 2025, focusing on randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that involved Studies were included if they reported health-related outcomes. Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro) scale used assess study quality risk bias. Adverse events categorized by severity, feasibility which determined based recruitment, withdrawal, rates. Results From 127 eligible studies involving 10,562 participants, found are generally safe, less than 3.2% participants experiencing exercise-related adverse events, most minor. Feasibility supported an average recruitment rate 50.1%, calculated as proportion who consented participate across studies. Additionally, a withdrawal 13.7%, 76.2%. However, significant variability these rates observed studies, highlighting challenges maintaining participant engagement. Conclusions Home-based cancer, minor being common. there is need standardized protocols reporting better strategies improve adherence. Implications cancer survivors These findings support integration into standard care, offering practical option enhancing health well-being survivors. successful implementation programs may require additional from professionals within care or community settings ensure appropriate guidance Personalized programs, developed qualified such physiotherapists clinical physiologists, improved standards essential optimizing interventions.
