Poor toughness and fast hydrolysis degradation are the key barriers for poly(glycolic acid) (PGA) toward broader applications. Herein, nonlinear structure PGA with high excellent stability was prepared through graft chain extending reaction in presence of bis(tert-butylperoxyisopropyl)benzene (BIPB) glycidyl methacrylate (GMA). The rheological behavior, gel content, GPC result demonstrated that GMA grafted onto chains, then epoxy group reacted end groups PGA, which resulted formation a one original connected to other backbone. PGA/1.0BIPB/1.0GMA had highest degree obtained when amounts BIPB were all 1.0 wt % respect it showed some characterization. Compared virgin elongation at break impact strength increased by 547 18%, respectively. Moreover, also possessed faster crystallization rate. results tensile decreased half on 12th day, delaying 7 days compared PGA. Furthermore, better foaming ability 24.68-fold volume expansion ratio. Thus, this work paved new strategy design toughness, stability, ultrahigh foamability.
