Insecticide resistance is an evolved ability to survive insecticide exposure. Compared with nonsocial insects, eusocial insects have lower numbers of documented cases resistance. Eusocial include beneficial and pest species that can be incidentally or purposely targeted insecticides. The central goal this review explore factors either limit the detect it in insects. We surveyed literature found has been bees, but other groups such as ants termites, evidence more sparse. suggest path forward for better understanding should tractable experimental models, comprehensive geographic sampling, testing impacts social, symbiont, genetic, ecological factors.

RNAi plays a crucial role in insect gene function research and pest control field. Nonetheless, the variable efficiency of across diverse insects off-target effects also limited its further application. In this study, we cloned six essential housekeeping genes from Solenopsis invicta conducted experiments by orally administering dsRNA. Then, found that mixing with liposomes significantly enhanced targeting for SiV-ATPaseE. Additionally, observed certain lethal effect dsRNA on queens our established system. Furthermore, no strict sequence-related were detected. Finally, large-scale bacteria expressing was successfully confirmed controlling S. invicta. summary, study an system provided template future development nucleic acid drugs based RNAi.

Solenopsis invicta, often known as the red imported fire ants (RIFAs), is a well-known global invasive ant species that can be found in agricultural, urban, and natural environments worldwide. Simultaneously, it also inhabits soil. Biochar generated by pyrolysis of organic matter under high-temperature anoxic widely used agricultural ecosystems soil amendment. However, to date, remains unknown whether application biochar has negative effect on RIFAs. In our study, we investigated toxicity irritability effects different amounts (0%, 1%, 2%, 5%, 10%, 20%) introduced into ants; upon comparison with control (0% biochar), 5% did not result significantly results. But utilization at concentration over 10% effectively repelled RIFAs, resulting their departure from treated soils. High doses were able cause death mortality rate reached 55.56% after 11 days 20% treatment. We evaluated four behaviors ants, namely aggregation, walking, grasping, attacking; treatment group reduced aggregation 64.22% this value was 55.22%, 68.44%, 62.36% for attacking. Finally, measured activities superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD), catalase (CAT) enzyme activity malondialdehyde (MDA) content results showed three enzymes increased increase addition, which indicated high dose induced oxidative stress ants. Our indicate potential repel (RIFAs) manner dependent concentration. propose could utilized manufacturing baits management. This work establishes foundation prevention management logical biochar.

The red imported fire ants (RIFAs) are a globally important invasive pest that severely affects the ecosystem and human health, its current control is primarily through chemical pesticides. However, extensive use of pesticides causes environmental problems, alternative strategies for controlling this being explored. In our study, we aimed to design deep eutectic solvent (DES)-CaCO

Eucryptorrhynchus scrobiculatus (Motschulsky) and E. brandti (Harold) are 2 serious pests inflicting damage on Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle. In the field, these species exhibit aggregation behavior. We hypothesized that this behavior facilitated contact horizontal transfer of Metarhizium anisopliae (Metschn.) Sorokin in weevil species. Little or no mortality both adult individuals exposed to low concentrations M. (1 × 105, 1 106 conidia/ml). A rate 100% was observed adults after 3 5 d treatment with at 109 108 conidia/ml. Abstract Wasmannia auropunctata (Roger) is an invasive tramp ant species that has been transported globally since [at least] the early twentieth century. It often claimed despite negative impacts associated with this and its listing among world’s worst species, very little research attention paid to W. auropuntata. Although need for future exists, there currently a considerable body of from around world spanning back 1920’s on species. Here we synthesize over 200 peer reviewed manuscripts, book chapters, conference presentations, media reports new distributions 1929–2022 culminating in comprehensive literature review auropunctata. This covers all current knowledge intended serve as quick reference provide resources those seeking more in-depth information specific topics. Topics included include taxonomic identification, global distribution pathways, life history, impacts, detection, control. We discuss where consensus ambiguity lie within community, identify contextual considerations researchers when interpreting data, suggest believe or clarifications are needed.

The generalist predatory mite Amblyseius swirskii is a widely used natural enemy of phytophagous pests. Due to the negative effects conventional pesticides on non-target organisms, development selective and eco-friendly pesticides, such as essential plant oils, are useful pest control tools use in synergy with biological agents. Essential oils Nepeta crispa , Satureja hortensis Anethum graveolens showed promising results Tetranychus urticae . Hence an experiment was carried out evaluate these biochemical demographic parameters A. A significant reduction carbohydrate, lipid, protein contents oil-treated mites observed. However, S. had no effect lipid reserves. glutathione S-transferase activity influenced by oil treatment. In addition, enzyme α-esterases elevated all treatments. β -esterases compared None concentrations different tested affected population growth observed oviposition time total fecundity mites. projection predicted efficacy will likely be decreased when expose oils; however, treatment faster than other two treatments not including control. presented this study may have critical implications for integrated management (IPM) programs. our observations show that using requires some caution considered alternatives synthetic combination Semi-field field studies still required T. study, before incorporating them into IPM strategies.
