Trichogramma chilonis Ishii (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) reared on factious host rice moth Corcyra cephalonica (Stainton) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) is an egg parasitoid lepidopteran pests. The essential oils, viz., ajowan Trachyspermum ammi, betel Piper betle, and sweet basil Ocimum basilicum neem oil were assessed for their toxicity biological traits like parasitism emergence T. chilonis. Among the EOs tested, ammi caused highest to (LC50 0.316 ppm) followed by P. betle 0.567 ppm). At sublethal dose, they had impact adult of Whilst O. relatively safe at doses This study highlights need maintain a waiting period before release in treated substrates.

Abstract The functional response of a biocontrol agent, as well its interactions with co-occurring species under thermal stress, are 2 crucial factors in evaluating ability to control arthropod pests the context climate warming. Encarsia formosa (Gahan) (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae) is one most extensively utilized biological agents for whitefly Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae). In present study, we evaluated effects short-term heat stress on and host efficacy En. formosa, interspecific between this parasitoid Eretmocerus hayati (Zolnerowich Rose) Aphelinidae). At all experimental temperatures, type II responses were observed both parasitism feeding. remained unaffected by temperature. Roger’s model was fit data. Based 95% confidence interval, pairwise comparisons searching rate (a) handling time (Th) across temperature regimes yielded no significant differences. instances, increased temperatures did not affect formosa. coexistence Er. exhibited negative impact formosa’s but positive effect that regimes. These findings provide valuable knowledge regarding dynamics warming underscore importance understanding relationships among effectively optimize pest management strategies.

Abstract A previous comprehensive survey in the Mediterranean and Southeastern regions of Türkiye investigating natural egg parasitism lepidopteran maize pests, Sesamia spp, (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) Ostrinia nubilalis Hbn. Chilo partellus (Swinhoe; Lepidoptera: Crambidae) by Trichogramma evanescens Westwood (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) yielded successful establishment laboratory cultures six strains molecularly clustering into two main groups. In this study, functional response adult longevity reared tested on a factitious host, Ephestia kuehniella Zeller Pyralidae) were investigated to provide insights their potential as candidate biocontrol agents under constant conditions. The modelling process consisted sequential steps: model selection using polynomial logistic regression parameter estimation an iterative maximum likelihood method. showed negative linear parameters (type II): HAP068M HAP268S. Although attack rate did not differ, handling time HAP268S was longer than that HAP068M. contrast, four had positive quadratic III) response: HAP044S, HAP070S, HAP210S, HAP258M. exhibiting type III differ time, while HAP044S higher coefficient both female male adults significantly differed between strains. More importantly, females belonging II presented shorter longevity, compared those with response. Males also similar trend longevity. This paper discusses differences types estimated relation relevance for biological control programs reveals link reciprocal predictors.

Egg parasitoids are important biological control agents of lepidopteran pests agricultural crops. Trichogramma evanescens Westwood and T. pintoi Voegele (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) egg with worldwide importance. The parasitoid selection necessitates comparative assessment the life table traits functional response analysis to provide insights into their effectiveness in pest control. In this study, we examined including survivorship reproductivity, associated parameters i.e., attack coefficient handling time.

Abstract The functional response of parasitoids is a main component models that describe host–parasitoid interactions. When the assumed in model ( e.g., population model) inaccurate, predictions by based on also become unreliable. This study reports conventional may commonly fail to capture actual and discuss its implications. To assist discussion, an experiment was conducted interactions between pupal parasitoid Dirhinus giffardii (Hymenoptera: Chalcididae) host Bactrocera dorsalis (Diptera: Tephritidae) laboratory. Results showed typically interacted with all hosts environment but parasitised small fraction them most encountered were rejected), which deviates from assumption mechanistic models. An increasing number published studies suggest (although circumstantially) rejection unparasitised common, suggesting this behaviour widespread among species. By using experimental results, discusses why existing hypotheses are insufficient for observed implications within realm theories surrounding
