ABSTRACT Fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), is a major insect pest that responsible for huge economic losses to maize crops. Trehalases (TREs), serving as crucial enzymes regulating trehalose and chitin metabolism in insects, represent prime targets for pest control strategies. We investigated the impact of three thioxothiazolidin compounds (1G, 2G, 11G) on TRE activity summarized their effects growth development Spodoptera frugiperda (Lepidoptera, Noctuidae). Abstract BACKGROUND Lepidopteran pest control in agriculture has become heavily dependent on cultivars that express Bacillus thuringiensis ( Bt ) toxins as ‘plant‐incorporated protectants’. However, populations of Spodoptera frugiperda (Smith) Brazil appear resistant to the traits currently available commercial soybean cultivars. RESULTS This study evaluated S. life history when feeding three different Cultivars expressing Cry1Ac + Cry1F and Cry1A.105 Cry2Ab2 caused 100% larval mortality . Both non‐Bt Cry1Ac‐expressing induced transgenerational effects increased survival subsequent generations. A diet reduced generation time (T) relative soybean, resulting shorter more rapid population growth. CONCLUSION The implications these results revealed how can alter aspects insect biology, have important for sustainable management soybean. © 2024 Society Chemical Industry.
