Drought represents a recurring natural event that holds notable socio-economic and environmental consequences. This research aims to analyze drought patterns in Greece by employing the standardized precipitation index (SPI) several vegetation indices within Geographic Information System (GIS) framework. GIS is potent tool for integrating geospatial data, encompassing climatic, topographic, hydrological information, enabling comprehensive assessment of conditions. By examining historical SPI quantifies severity duration relative long-term average precipitation. In addition, calculated from data total 152 meteorological stations. Subsequently, geostatistical techniques are applied generate maps (SPI 6- 12-timescale) examine secondary effects on different land uses. Satellite utilized calculate indices. completed using satellite calculating corresponding such as Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI), Normalized Difference (NDVI), Water (NDWI). extracted these methods based indicators remote sensing useful tools policymakers, stakeholders, water experts. The resulting maps, serve valuable policymakers stakeholders.

ABSTRACT This study assesses the effect of climate change and land degradation on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2 indicators (agricultural productivity, crop yields, agricultural output per capita, livelihoods, economic growth) for different African regions. Using data from 46 countries (1990–2022), we employ Panel‐Corrected Standard Errors (PCSE) Feasible Generalized Least Squares (FGLS) techniques to show that both have substantial negative impacts pursuit achieving SDG2, especially in agriculture, forestry, fishing. We also some specific change, like rainfall patterns, had positive while such as deforestation resource depletion hindered progress. Thus, provides evidence a critical need integrated policies strategies encompassing adaptation mitigation, restoration conservation, sustainable practices Africa.

ABSTRACT Climate change, one of the most pressing global challenges, threatens natural ecosystems, water cycles, and numerous basic processes, with agriculture facing particularly severe risks. Agriculture is main source food, which essential for human survival, its sustainability relies on effective implementation strategies policies adapting to mitigating climate change. Land management serves as a cornerstone practical application these policies. Consequently, agriculture, land are deeply interconnected. This relationship explicitly emphasized within framework United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. The development require analysis large, location‐based datasets. At this point, Geographic Information System (GIS) emerges pivotal tool, enhancing synergy between three key concepts. study offers comprehensive bibliometric critical interrelationship among management, GIS. findings indicate that sustainable change adaptation, decision‐making models, smart farming applications have become increasingly prominent research focuses. In particular, growing interest in artificial intelligence GIS‐supported modeling tools has been observed; however, significant gaps literature still persist area. highlights potential future interdisciplinary studies innovative approaches. aims contribute reference, facilitating exploration solutions existing challenges identification areas requiring further development.

Abstract Over the past decade, community-based forest landscape restoration (FLR) has gained policy attention in Pakistan. However, there is a lack of information on how FLR affects livelihood capital mountain communities. To fill this gap, study investigated impacts Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) region understand role restoration, we utilized focus group discussions (FGDs) and field observations. The revealed that community members perceived various their assets. helped restore ecology, improved access to food, education, health facilities, developed infrastructure, initiated ecotourism area. activities were executed through several institutions, particularly extension services, Village Development Committees (VDCs), Joint Forest Management (JFMCs), process equity, accountability, collaboration. We recommend continuing implementation initiatives services maximize positive social, natural, human, financial, physical capitals.
