In
this
study,
an
efficient
and
convenient
three-component
cyclization
protocol
is
presented
for
the
synthesis
of
xanthene
derivatives
using
a
water
extract
red
mud
(WERM).
Red
produced
in
large
quantities
as
waste
aluminum
industries,
first
report
to
use
WERM
renewable
medium
xanthenes.
We
focused
our
attention
on
domino
condensation/Michael
addition/intramolecular
both
experimentally
density
functional
theory
(DFT)
studies,
where
formation
chromenopyrimidines
was
suppressed
simultaneously.
Furthermore,
innovation
operates
straightforward
cost-effective
manner,
accommodates
numerous
groups,
encompasses
broad
range
substrates,
produces
exceptional
yields,
eliminates
need
column
chromatography,
enables
scalable
syntheses,
allows
reusability
reaction
media,
all
which
contribute
principles
green
sustainable
chemistry.

An
expedient
and
eco-friendly
protocol
for
the
construction
of
CC
CS
bonds
has
been
developed
by
Michael
addition
chalcones
with
various
nucleophiles
like
malononitrile,
1,3-dimethylbarbituric
acid,
nitromethane,
benzyl
cyanide,
thiols
using
water
extract
red
mud
(WERM)
at
room
temperature.
Red
is
by-product
abundantly
generated
as
wastes
in
aluminium
industries
this
first
report
where
WERM
utilized
profitably
an
alternative
basic
medium
reaction.
This
reaction
method
not
only
environmentally
benign
cost-effective
derived
from
waste
material
but
also
tolerated
electronically
diverse
functional
groups.
Other
notable
advantages
present
are
operational
simplicity,
no
column
chromatographic
purification,
excellent
yields
within
short
times,
reusability
media,
scale
up
synthesis.
Additionally,
green
applied
to
synthesize
highly
substituted
pyridine
derivatives.
