Abstract The development of coordination‐based host for the detection heavy metal ions in aqueous medium is a challenging task. We report 1,8‐naphthalimide‐based pseudo‐crown ether which possess hexaethylene glycol chain selective binding Pd 2+ and Fe 3+ with higher affinity over ions. lowest limits are 2.5 nM 15 nM, respectively. Job's Hill plot showed 1 : stochiometric complexation between NHG :M n+ constants 1.4×10 4 M −1 (Pd ) 1.5×10 3 (Fe ). CIE 90 % blue colour purity CHCl solution. In solid‐state, blue‐green 52.7 green high quantum yield (ϕ=0.0643). flake‐like aggregates transformed into spherical structure upon interaction as confirmed by microscopic light scattering studies.

Abstract A novel hydroxy benzothiazole based yellow fluorescent powder (labelled as 2 ‐SiO ) was prepared by adsorption of on silica (4 % w / for visualization latent fingerprints (LFPs) and glove prints using dusting method. The solid‐state spectrum shows emission peak at 550 nm with CIE‐1931 coordinates ( 0.42, 0.50 colour purity is 58.6 %. high fluorescence in the could be attributed to AIE+ESIPT features. Due powder, imaging LFPs a variety porous non‐porous substrates including prints, up levels 1–3, without any post‐treatment has been achieved. showed strong interaction D‐Glucose, urea lactate components present sweat. practical applications have demonstrated analysis LFPs, development different temperatures; aged, stained preservation developed documentation purposes.

In the fingerprint research area, development of 'old' fingerprints (FPs) or FPs taken on porous, smooth surfaces, preservation developed and visualization sweat pores are unsolved issues. this report, we have synthesized explored 4,5-bis(diethylene glycol) functionalized 1,8-naphthalimide (Naph-DG) dye for addressing these The Naph-DG possesses high quantum yield (φ = 4.22) in solid-state suitable latent, old, stained using powder dusting method non-porous coloured surfaces up to levels 1–3. Depending upon hydrophobicity surface, Chameleon emits blue, blue-greenish greenish fluorescence ridges FPs. practical applicability was demonstrated case studies. with can be lifted scotch tape preservation. also used (i) as a fluorescent ink anti-counterfeiting labels (ii) molecular recognition Fe3+ low 42 nM CH3CN.

ABSTRACT Forensic science is evolving to tackle increasingly complex criminal investigations, where traditional methods may fall short. This review examines how computational chemistry enhances forensic techniques by providing detailed insights into molecular interactions, reaction mechanisms, and spectroscopic properties. A particular focus placed on density functional theory (DFT), which has emerged as a powerful, cost‐effective tool that balances efficiency accuracy, making it ideal for studying wide range of compounds without the need physical samples. Applications discussed include analysis new psychoactive substances (NPS), detection food adulterants, development chemical sensors, examination luminol blood detection, fingerprint visualization, explosives. Key advances in various DFT functionals are highlighted, along with prospects integrating machine learning sustainable practices further expand its impact science.
