Abstract Security faces huge challenges in Internet of Things (IoT) environments. In particular, conventional access control standards and models tend to be less tailored for IoT due the constrained nature smart objects. Usually, a powerful third party is used handle logic. However, this lacking transparency could harm user privacy. Therefore, providing distributed solution, while considering privacy-preserving awareness systems, paramount importance. The described issue can addressed using emergent Blockchain technology that provides promising choice build new generation decentralized transparent solutions. This paper proposes contract-based framework healthcare which based on contracts provide trustworthy control, combined with GTRBAC model express fine-grained policies temporal authorization constraints. To prove feasibility validity proposed framework, also detailed technical description an initial implementation execution. An experimental evaluation shows security properties’ analyses achieved best possible no vulnerabilities found, cost operations increases linearly as number policy constraints increases. Besides, comparative analysis reveals approach achieve good results low gas costs latency.

Abstract The COVID‐19 pandemic has emerged as a highly transmissible disease which caused disastrous impact worldwide by adversely affecting the global economy, health, and human lives. This sudden explosion uncontrolled spread of revealed limitations existing healthcare systems regarding handling public health emergencies. As governments seek to effectively re‐establish their economies, open workplaces, ensure safe travels progressively return normal life, there is an urgent need for technologies that may alleviate severity losses. article explores promising solution secure Digital Health Certificate, called NovidChain, Blockchain‐based privacy‐preserving platform test/vaccine certificates issuing verifying. More precisely, NovidChain incorporates several emergent concepts: (i) Blockchain technology data integrity immutability, (ii) self‐sovereign identity allow users have complete control over data, (iii) encryption Personally Identifiable Information enhance privacy, (iv) W3C verifiable credentials standard facilitate instant verification proof, (v) selective disclosure concept permit user share selected pieces information with trusted parties. Therefore, designed meet high level protection personal in compliant GDPR KYC requirements, guarantees user's self‐sovereignty, while ensuring both safety populations right privacy. To prove security efficiency proposed platform, this also provides detailed technical description, proof‐of‐concept implementation, different experiments, comparative evaluation. evaluation shows better financial cost scalability results compared other solutions. we note difference time between operations (i.e., 46% 56%). During 2021, different worldwide initiatives have been established for the development of digital vaccination certificates to alleviate restrictions associated with COVID‐19 pandemic vaccinated individuals. Although diverse technologies can be considered deployment such certificates, use blockchain has suggested as a promising approach due its decentralization and transparency features. However, proposed solutions often lack realistic experimental evaluation that could help determine possible practical challenges platform this purpose. To fill gap, work introduces scalable, blockchain‐based secure sharing or other disease certificates. As an indicative case, we emulate large‐scale by considering countries European Union. The is evaluated through extensive experiments measuring computing resource usage, network response time, bandwidth.
