In order to solve the long‐standing issue of uneven wear on backup rolls and promote roll gap stiffness in 2250 mm continuously variable crown hot strip mills, this study presents an optimization method for design varying contact promotion (VCRpro) eliminate effectively undesired zones between work rolls. First, VCRpro contour represented by a cosine function is established based particle swarm algorithm. Then, 3D finite element model investigate pressures under different shifting positions, bending forces, widths, rolling forces. The results demonstrate that regulation efficiency force has been enhanced. comparison with conventional rolls, ability increase 19.38%. And rise 15.52%. Moreover, unevenness coefficient experienced maximum reduction 35% average 25.77%. Industrial production demonstrated significantly reduce compared improvement 10.54% self‐maintaining.
