The development of non-noble metal based and cost-effective electrocatalysts for water splitting has attracted significant attention due to their potential in production clean green hydrogen fuel. Discovered 2011, a family two-dimensional transition carbides, nitrides, carbonitrides, have demonstrated promising performance as electro catalysts the process high electrical conductivity, very large surface area abundant catalytic active sites.
