This chapter investigates the important relationship of health, water, food security, sanitation, and livestock productivity within conceptual structure sustainable development. By aligning with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this analysis highlights importance risk management intervention strategies that address these interlinked sectors to ensure a resilient future. The is organized into several sections, each focusing on key area its associated challenges, risks, solutions, especially in developing countries where resources are limited socio-economic environmental constraints raised.

Abstract The objectives of this study are two fold: first, to develop a composite water security metric assess at national scale, and second, explore the determinants same scale in three developing regions – Africa, Asia-Pacific Latin America Caribbean (LAC). index (WSI) was developed using biophysical (water availability, climate risk ecosystem vitality) socioeconomic accessibility integrated resources management) variables. Five independent variables (governance, gross domestic product (GDP) per capita, percentage urban population, official development assistance for sanitation services (ODA-WSS) female primary school completion rate) were used security. Results show that >90% countries Africa water-insecure, whereas most LAC water-secure except Haiti, Guatemala Nicaragua. Statistical analyses GDP rate governance key This provides empirical evidence on link between further strong correlation ODA-WSS region with higher capita than low capita. suggests increasing may enhance regions.

Smallholder farmers in South Africa face issues related to water shortages and poor irrigation management. This study investigated barriers improving water-use efficiency (WUE) smallholder production practices Numbi, Africa. The objectives were identify redesigning for higher agricultural productivity analyze the relationship between supply adoption of WUE methods. From a population 7696 people, 141 sampled using simple random sampling technique through Taro Yamane’s sample size formula. data analyzed Pearson’s correlation coefficient descriptive statistics. Unreliable (M = 3.78, SD 0.85), soil retention lack water-efficient systems 3.91, 0.71), storage facilities 3.85, 0.93), limited access credit 4.09, income instability due market fluctuations 3.96, 0.91), inadequate knowledge management 4.00, 0.84), harsh climatic factors identified. A positive (r 0.339, n 141, p < 0.001) source techniques was evident, indicating that had an insignificant impact on Resolving these requires holistic approach focusing investments infrastructure targeted education initiatives by extension agents other stakeholders, as this can enhance productivity.
