This study explores the cognitive-linguocultural aspects of somatic guanyongyu in modern Chinese through a mixed-methods approach that integrates qualitative and quantitative methodologies. The research examines how body experience is metaphorically mapped onto abstract concepts linguistic structures. Somatic guanyongyu, distinctive category habitual expressions, reflect fundamental cognitive mechanisms such as metaphorization, metonymization, conceptual integration. These expressions play crucial role encoding cultural values, particularly relation to hierarchy, social etiquette, emotional expressiveness.A representative corpus was compiled from corpora, phraseological dictionaries, contemporary texts, allowing for comprehensive cognitive-semantic semiotic analysis. The findings reveal serve tools conceptualizing human experiences, reinforcing embodied nature cognition. Expressions involving parts head, face, hands, heart carry metaphorical significance related intelligence, reputation, action, emotions. Moreover, highlights interplay between language, thought, culture by demonstrating metaphors shape discourse communication norms. This contributes understanding foundations language offers valuable insights cross-linguistic studies on conceptualization. Future may extend this analysis exploring diachronic evolution different settings.

The 20th century witnessed three significant revolutions in the field of linguistics, each reshaping our understanding language from different theoretical angles: Structuralist revolution led by Ferdinand de Saussure, theTransformational-Generative pioneered Noam Chomsky, and Cognitive Linguistics revolution, which emerged a philosophical shift towards embodiment (Wang, 2015). Saussure's (1916) structuralist approach marked departure historical comparative emphasizing study as self-contained system, isolated its social or cognitive contexts.Saussure's Structuralism laid groundwork for modern linguistics focusing on system signs, but it largely excluded human cognition contexts.By mid-20th century, Chomsky (1957Chomsky ( , 1965) ) revolutionized again with his Transformational-Generative Grammar, shifting focus structural relationships to innate mechanisms underlying language. proposed that humans are born Universal Grammar-a biologically endowed set linguistic principles allows them generate infinite grammatical structures. This theory emphasized competence-the internal knowledge language-over performance, refers actual use.
