This study focuses on deforestation, a key aspect of the current environmental decline linked to worldwide economic development and increasing populations. It examines how renewable energy consumption (RENC), GDP per capita, urbanization (URB) foreign direct investments (FDI) have influenced expansion forest areas (FAG) in Romania from 1990 2022, utilizing an autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model Bayer–Hanck cointegration approach. The main results paper are following: has positive statistically significant long-term influence FAG; URB FDI negative impact RENC is not determinant FAG. In short term, 1% increase leads 809.88% decrease FAG, while first second 323.06%, 216.26% suggests that as more land developed for urban use (like building homes, businesses, infrastructure), immediate consequence reduction area available forests. effect indicates strong inverse relationship between availability forests term. Our underscore importance sustainable strategies, including green planning robust conservation, offset adverse effects increased Romania’s emphasizing need careful strategic policies balance growth with protection.

ABSTRACT Desertification, a process through which once fertile and productive land is degraded into barren, arid desert, represents significant environmental challenge with widespread consequences for ecosystems human populations globally. This review explores the fundamental causes of desertification, its profound socio‐economic impacts, strategies employed to combat it. We address diverse range approaches aimed at mitigating effects in particular importance sustainable management practices, such as reforestation soil conservation. also examine numerous obstacles practical implementation these potential future directions more effective management. In addition, we highlight role policy frameworks, governmental interventions, international cooperation essential components addressing this pressing issue. As desertification continues threaten both livelihoods vulnerable regions, comprehensive understanding strategies, challenges, solutions will be crucial ensuring resilience affected communities preservation biodiversity. By fostering land‐use practices promoting global cooperation, can pave way resilient improved well‐being facing severe degradation.

Abstract Forests provide a wide range of ecosystem processes and services, including net primary production, climate regulation, water nutrient cycling. However, forest ecosystems face immense pressure from various human-induced natural disturbances, which significantly contribute to their degradation. The restoration forests is critical global concern, particularly in Jharkhand, India, where are highly vulnerable mining activities land maintenance required cannot be comprehended without understanding soil. In this context, the present study was conducted analyse physicochemical properties soils under disturbances across all divisions Jharkhand. Stratification by grouping areas based on type (dense/moderately dense open/scrub/degraded forests) 31 divisions. Within each stratum, random sampling points were selected for division. Soil samples collected at three depths: 0–30 cm, 30–60 60–90 cm. soil analysed 12 parameters including, basic (pH, EC Organic Carbon), major nutrients (Available Nitrogen (AN), Available phosphorus (AP) Exchangeable Potassium (AK)), secondary Sulphur (AS)) micronutrients (Available.) Zinc (Zn), boron (B), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn) copper (Cu)). result two-way ANOVA showed significant (P < 0.05) variation pH, OC disturbance as well depth factors among Jharkhand state. All recorded decreasing trend NDF > MDF DF cm respectively. correlation matrix positive relation between Fe with Mn (0.975 P 0.001), pH (0.243 P 0.001) AK AP (0.221 0.001). calculation recommended dose fertilizers revealed that most require additional NPK, except Bokaro, Chatra South, Deoghar, Giridih East, West, Jamtara, Koderma, Medininagar, Sahibganj, Saraikela This research identifies deficiencies provides recommendations calculating fertilizer doses support sustainable management practices enhance plantation success.

Dryland forests are ecologically and socioeconomically important. They contribute to livelihood diversification, food security, animal feed shelter, environmental conservation in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly Sudan. Despite their importance, current findings show that multiple ecological, human, socio-economic, policy factors have damaged these resources. As a result, undesirable consequences been observed, such as famine, land water resource degradation, decline/loss of biodiversity, contribution global warming affect the welfare humans, plants, animals, micro-organisms. This chapter briefly reviews forest degradation drylands Sudan with emphasis on its common causes, impacts, assessment methods, management intervention efforts, potential future solutions. Given situation, there must be urgent combating efforts manage Sudan\'s dryland resources properly. On one hand, following prevention measures essentially deal causes thus prevent any further other is an need address appropriate timely rehabilitation interventions. We also recommend adopting serious monitoring evaluation system within by applying five indicators for measuring degradation: productive functions, carbon storage, health, protective functions.
