This introductory paper sets the scene for special issue. It describes rationale collection – which has to do with multiple geopolitical, economic and health-related events of past 30 years summarises some overarching changes in East–West migration dynamics within beyond Europe over this period. However, article nine papers that follow also challenge nuance predominant framing recent intra-European migration. They identify numerous other trends: return immigration into CEE countries, intra-CEE migrations a range issues relating impacts on children youth.

Migration has become an inescapable reality affecting South African families, extending its impact far beyond the immigrant to those staying behind. The geographical separation of parents from their adult children and grandchildren significantly alters family dynamics, creating logistical emotional challenges. Participants in this study reveal a deeply felt need physically reconnect with loved ones, emphasizing solace derived in-person interactions. enduring parent-child bond motivates members find meaningful ways maintain connections across vast distances differing time zones. Transnational visits serve as crucial lifeline, enabling experience children’s new environments strengthen bonds grandchildren. This article draws upon ongoing qualitative research exploring lived experiences emigrant grandchildren, focusing on barriers that hinder these transnational visits. It focusses parents’ unique travelling visit children, rather than return While they are essential for sustaining familial bonds, layered experiences, shaped by financial constraints, complexities long-distance travel weight farewells. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need for structurally informed mental health services that are sensitive to social inequalities and cultural differences. ‘We are living in the time of a turning point’: exploring views on global entities in immigration – a comparative study of actors from different political leanings DOI Creative Commons

In recent years, a series of global crises have triggered heightened politicization international policy efforts and questioning the role forums in management these crises. This article investigates perspectives diverse actors who mobilize against immigration to Norway, including from mainstream right left far left, analyse how they frame impact political entities for migration. Based on an analysis 27 interviews with politicians, social movement activists, knowledge producers, we explore radical employ anti-globalism frames delegitimize refugee reception, whereas advocate regulation migration by referencing agreements. In recent years, everyday life and interpersonal relationships in a broad sense have been shaped by the SarsCov-2 pandemic its extensive consequences – both on local global level. Other phenomena made their presence felt at level too Brexit, for example. this article, based research carried out Poland, England Northern Ireland August September 2021, we present various dimensions of migrants with people who are important to them Poland context these two main processes. The results our indicate that new circumstances affect lives relatives levels, such as routine activities, work, relations, transnational contacts. We also identified stages processes accompanying emotions, emerged leading theme, overshadowing Brexit.

Abstract The Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 resulted a massive exodus Ukrainians to Europe but also the emigration citizens. While attention has primarily been on flow migrants neighbouring countries, intercontinental migrations regions like South America have overlooked. This paper sheds light growing trend Russians settling Brazil. Drawing comprehensive dataset migration statistics and qualitative data from empirical fieldwork conducted between 2019 2023 three Brazilian cities, our analysis reveals that new Brazil are young, highly skilled resourceful individuals.
