Audiometric Characteristics of Hyperacusis Patients

Hyperacusis
is
a
frequent
auditory
disorder
where
sounds
of
normal
volume
are
perceived
as
too
loud
or
even
painfully
loud.
There
high
degree
co-morbidity
between
hyperacusis
and
tinnitus,
most
patients
also
have
but
only
about
30-40%
tinnitus
show
symptoms
hyperacusis.
In
order
to
elucidate
the
mechanisms
hyperacusis,
detailed
measurements
loudness
discomfort
levels
(LDLs)
across
hearing
range
would
be
desirable.
However,
previous
studies
reported
LDLs
for
restricted
frequency
range,
e.g.,
from
0.5

kHz.
We
measured
audiograms
in
381

primary
complaint

research

Background:
