ABSTRACT The reuse of components is a highly impactful way to implement the circular economy (CE) and limit negative environmental externalities in material‐intensive industries, such as construction manufacturing. Although research integrating digitalisation CE has proposed wide range digital technologies facilitate component reuse, these studies have limited their focus single are centred on firms, explaining how technology can support value chain actor specific solution. Consequently, we lack comprehensive understanding enable implementation diverse practices—from design disassembly reassembly—undertaken by multiple actors chains. Against this backdrop, conducted qualitative multiple‐case study three technologies—addressing data‐driven modelling analytics (Digital Twin), data collection monitoring (Internet Things [IoT]) data‐informed automatisation (robots)—advance practices manufacturing Data were gathered from case companies through interviews, over 3 years ethnographic observation supplemented with document analysis, secondary sources. Three key results emerge our study: first, offer eight enabling functions thereby fundamental instrumentalities for practices: knowledge optimisation, planning optimisation improved operationalisation. Second, they five categories business‐ management‐related benefits, namely, systems physical processes, enhanced management chains, economic innovation development. Third, benefits realised at levels within that is, individual actors, partnerships entire allowing us identify diversified scopes benefits. Our findings synthesised into conceptual framework relative detail This contributes provides practical insights both sectoral chains maximise effectiveness advance transition.
