Extreme heat is a growing concern for local governments, whose regulatory control of land development impacts the urban island effect. To better understand how governments are responding, this study reviewed mitigation plans and policies from municipalities regional districts in historically temperate south coast mainland British Columbia by asking Metro Vancouver Fraser Valley jurisdictions planning extreme heat? 243 documents across 29 (27 two districts) were using plan evaluation framework keyword searches. Our results showed that heat-mitigating interventions not uniformly or explicitly included within governments. Showing lack consideration as hazard. Urban greening site-scale most common jurisdictions. We argue effective governance requires coordination alignment with higher levels government departments

Abstract Increasing the adoption of energy-efficiency measures (EEM) by households is one practical strategies to increase energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. For 3.24 million low-income in Australia, partly due their potentially disproportionately large waste usable energy, there a gap between potential for through existing EEM actual level. Many buildings; however, barriers persist such adopt these measures, which limited research has yet be conducted. In response, this study examines relationships involved questionnaire survey 212 showing that financial have greatest influence followed split incentive barriers, with provision information having no significant role play. This paper contributes filling involving households, revealing effect on EEM.
