Abstract The Guineo-Congolian region, extending from Guinea in West Africa to the central part of Africa, is considered an important biodiversity hotspot Afrotropics. Aside underreporting and underestimation freshwater ecosystems, challenges regarding incorrect coordinates taxonomical inaccuracies species occurrence data pose another major hurdle that may hinder conservation efforts hotspot. Hence, for any biogeographic analysis, distribution modelling or initiative, it crucial use datasets are, largest possible extent, free spatial taxonomic errors. We present final output 8,809 occurrences consisting 4 phyla, eight classes, 32 orders, 1,104 species. also added Hydrography90m stream network attributes macroinvertebrate records, such spans across 2,890 sub-catchments Strahler orders 1–12. These records are valid can be used analysis macroinvertebrates this yet understudied

The mitochondrial genomes of three stoneflies, e.g., Tibetisoperla wangluyui Huo and Du, 2021, Perlodinella kozlovi Klapálek, 1912 epiproctalis (Zwick, 1997), were sequenced in this study, with lengths 16,043 bp, 16,024 16,071 respectively. Each mitogenome contained 37 genes including 22 tRNAs, two ribosomal RNAs, 13 protein-coding (PCGs), a noncoding control region (CR). In general, standard ATN start TAN termination codons evident the PCGs. Meanwhile, paper, newly published 11 existing Perlodidae from NCBI analyzed. Among PCGs genome Perlodidae, atp6, atp8, cox2, cox3, cytb, nad1, nad2, nad3, nad4 are exactly same, length cox1 is 1536–1569 bp. nad4L 297, but Arcynopteryx dichroa 300. nad5 ranges 1732 bp to 1752 while that nad6 525 534 rrnL between 1292 391 rrnS 793 869 addition, we found atp8 Isoperlinae started GTG as codon Perlodinae, it ATG. Despite these advances, data still needed.

Determining individuals' dry mass is crucial for better understanding community structure in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. The establishment of size‒mass relationships different populations constitutes a helpful tool indirectly determining the total biomass freshwater communities. In this study, we determined 14 genera from orders Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera, Trichoptera, Odonata commonly found leaf patches Atlantic Forest streams (SE Brazil). We used individual body length as size measure three mathematical models (linear, exponential, power) to establish best-fitting equations. equations described by power model showed best fit (coefficient determination [r²]≥0.80) Anacroneuria, Macrogynoplax (Plecoptera), Smicridea (Trichoptera), Archaegomphus, Idiataphe, Hetaerina, Heteragrion, Neocordulia (Odonata); exponential presented Phylloicus (r²=0.74), Triplectides (Trichoptera, r²=0.60), Enderleina (r²=0.96), Tupiperla (Plecoptera, r²=0.60); linear exhibited Elasmothemis (Odonata, r²=0.85) Massartella (Ephemeroptera, r²=0.63). Our findings demonstrated that strong predictor most studied but some exceptions suggest it may not fully capture variation. performed general, whereas were optimal specific genera, indicating diverse influences on taxa allometry. This study reinforces need evaluate approaches estimating insects underscores caution required when using indirect methods determination.

This study aims to assess the vulnerability and tolerance levels of macroinvertebrate functional feeding groups (FFGs) in forested streams draining urban areas Niger Delta. It contributes our understanding how human activities affect freshwater ecosystems. Between 2008 2012, we conducted monthly measurements physicochemical variables collected macroinvertebrates. We categorised sampling sites into three based on disturbance levels: least impacted (LIS), moderately (MIS), heavily (HIS). Multivariate (RLQ) analysis was used visualise associations among across sampled sites, revealing distinct relationships between certain FFGs different sites. The RLQ model constructed showed that grazers collector-filterers were predominantly observed LIS, suggesting their environmental stressors. Conversely, predators shredders more prevalent (MIS HIS), indicating disturbances such as elevated nitrate higher water temperatures. fourth corner graph highlighted differing responses variables, with showing positive correlations several factors but no significant association phosphate levels. Overall, these findings importance considering assessing health integrity aquatic
