Background The prevalence of type 2 diabetes has increased in both young and old people. We examined age-specific associations population attributable fractions (PAFs) risk factors for all-cause cause-specific mortality people with diabetes. Methods findings analysed data from 360,202 Chinese who participated a territory-wide complication screening programme Hong Kong between January 2000 December 2019. compared the hazard ratios PAFs eight factors, including three major comorbidities (cardiovascular disease [CVD], chronic kidney [CKD], all-site cancer) five modifiable (suboptimal HbA1c, suboptimal blood pressure, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, smoking, weight), across four age groups (18 to 54, 55 64, 65 74, ≥75 years). During median 6.0 years follow-up, 44,396 died, cancer, CVD, pneumonia being leading causes death. Despite higher absolute older (crude rate: 59.7 versus 596.2 per 10,000 person-years aged 18 54 those years), relative associated most was younger than people, after mutually adjusting other potential confounders sex, duration, lipid profile, medication use. explained larger proportion events youngest (PAF: 51.6%, 95% confidence interval [CI] [39.1%, 64.0%], p < 0.001) oldest 35.3%, CI [27.2%, 43.4%], group. Suboptimal pressure 16.9%, [14.7%, 19.1%], factor group, while CKD 15.2%, [14.0%, 16.4%], CVD 9.2%, [8.3%, 10.1%], were analysis restricted Chinese, which might affect generalisability global differences profiles. Furthermore, estimated under assumption causal relationship mortality. However, reliable causality difficult establish observational study. Conclusions Major greater their burden varied substantially by age. These highlight importance early control could reduce premature prevent onset later related at ages.

Aging is a progressive and irreversible pathophysiological process that manifests as the decline in tissue cellular functions, along with significant increase risk of various aging-related diseases, including metabolic diseases. While advances modern medicine have significantly promoted human health extended lifespan, diseases such obesity type 2 diabetes among older adults pose major challenge to global public societies age. Therefore, understanding complex interaction between factors crucial for promoting well-being healthy aging. This review article explores environmental behavioral associated their impact on The environment, an obesogenic environment exposure toxins, strongly correlated rising prevalence its comorbidities. Behavioral factors, diet, physical activity, smoking, alcohol consumption, sleep patterns, influence throughout Public interventions targeting modifiable can effectively promote healthier lifestyles prevent Collaboration government agencies, healthcare providers community organizations essential implementing these creating supportive environments foster

The global prevalence of diabetes continues to increase partly due rapid urbanization and an in the aging population. Consequently, this is associated with a parallel diabetic vascular complications which significantly worsen burden diabetes. For these complications, there still unmet need for safe effective alternative/adjuvant therapeutic interventions. There also increasing urge options come from natural products such as plants. Hyperglycemia-induced oxidative stress central development complications. Furthermore, stress-induced inflammation insulin resistance are endothelial damage progression Human animal studies have shown that polyphenols could reduce stress, hyperglycemia, prevent including retinopathy, nephropathy, peripheral neuropathy. Part effects attributed their modulatory effect on endogenous antioxidant systems. This review attempts summarize established systems literature. Moreover, potential strategies harnessing benefits discussed.

Objective To produce estimates of the global burden type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) caused by high body mass index (high BMI) and its impact for 2021 projections 2045. Methods We downloaded data from Global Burden Disease Study 2021(GBD 2021) to estimate disease T2DM BMI. Secondary analyses were performed year, age, gender, region, socio-demographic (SDI). Results Globally, all-ages number T2DM-related deaths has increased significantly 238.1 thousand 723.7 thousand, representing a 203.9% increase since 1990. And T2DM-raleted DALYs raised 10.4 million 39.3 million, 276.7% The was expected continue 1296.7 2045 deaths, 85.5 DALYs. curves showed an intersection different genders around age 60, beyond which women exhibit higher burden, compared men. BMI shows significant upward trend across all SDI groups, with heavier on women, especially in postmenopausal female population. In 2021, among 204 countries territories, top 3 largest occurred China, India, United States. three highest rate Fiji, Marshall Islands, Kiribati. Conclusion Our study reveals that is increasing rising future. Women bear particularly there are differences geographical regions, socioeconomic statuses. Targeted considerations specific strategies essential address these disparities, thereby improving public health reducing burden.

ABSTRACT Humans are perhaps evolutionarily engineered to get deeply addicted sugar, as it not only provides energy but also helps in storing fats, which survival during starvation. Additionally, sugars (glucose and fructose) stimulate the feel‐good factor, they trigger secretion of serotonin dopamine brain, associated with reward sensation, uplifting mood general. However, when consumed excess, contributes imbalance, weight gain, obesity, leading onset a complex metabolic disorder, generally referred diabetes. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is one most prevalent forms diabetes, nearly affecting all age groups. T2DM clinically diagnosed cardinal sign chronic hyperglycemia (excessive sugar blood). Chronic hyperglycemia, coupled dysfunctions pancreatic β‐cells, insulin resistance, immune inflammation, further exacerbate pathology T2DM. Uncontrolled T2DM, major public health concern, significantly toward progression several micro‐ macrovascular diseases, such diabetic retinopathy, nephropathy, neuropathy, atherosclerosis, cardiovascular including cancer. The current review discusses epidemiology, causative factors, pathophysiology, comorbidities, existing emerging therapies related It future roadmap for alternative drug discovery management

Wound healing is one of the most complex processes in human body, supported by many cellular events that are tightly coordinated to repair wound efficiently. Chronic wounds have potentially life-threatening consequences. Traditional dressings come direct contact with help them heal and avoid further complications. However, traditional some limitations. These do not provide real-time information on conditions, leading clinicians miss best time for adjusting treatment. Moreover, current diagnosis relatively subjective. Wearable electronics become a unique platform monitor conditions continuous manner accurately even serve as accelerated vehicles. In this review, we briefly discuss status objective parameters/biomarkers influencing healing, followed presentation various novel wearable devices used monitoring accelerating healing. We summarize associated device working principles. This review concludes highlighting major challenges toward need be addressed research community.

Abstract Background and Aims Several guidelines recommend screening for NAFLD in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D). We aimed to determine if there is a threshold of age duration T2D liver‐related event development guide strategies. Approach Results conducted territory‐wide retrospective cohort study adult diagnosed between 2000 2014 Hong Kong allow at least 5 years follow‐up. The primary endpoint was events, defined as composite HCC cirrhotic complications. This included 7028 (mean age, 56.1 ± 13.3 years; 3363 male [47.9%]). During follow‐up 77,308 person‐years, effect 1.1%, 4.9%, 94.0% developing events the <40, 40–50, ≥50 years, respectively. Similarly, 3.1%, 5.1%, 91.8% developed cirrhosis In contrast, increased linearly duration, no difference annual incidence rate first 10 diagnosis subsequent (0.06% vs. 0.10%; p = 0.136). On multivariable analysis, baseline (adjusted HR [aHR] 2.01) (aHR 3.12) were strongest risk factors associated events. Substitution aspartate aminotransferase‐to‐platelet ratio index or Fibrosis‐4 yielded similar results. Conclusions Age rather than predicts T2D. It reasonable screen advanced liver disease starting 50 age.
