Abstract Purpose To evaluate the impact of pandemic on consumption antidepressive agents in Central Portugal. Methods estimate causal effect an interrupted time series analysis was conducted. Data antidepressant drugs monthly dispensed community pharmacies between Jan-2010 and Dec-2021 were provided by regional Health Administration. Anti-Parkinson dopaminergic statins, theoretically not influenced COVID-19 pandemics, used as comparator series. The number packages converted into defined daily doses presented doses/1000 inhabitants/day. A Bayesian structural time-series model with CausalImpact R/RStudio to predict counterfactual. Analyses different geographical granularity (9 sub-regions 78 municipalities) performed. Results When compared counterfactual, non-significantly increased after declaration, a relative + 1.30% [95%CI -1.6%:4.2%]. increasing granularity, differences appeared sub-region significant increases Baixo Mondego 6.5% [1.4%:11.0%], Guarda 4.4% [1.1%:7.7%] or Cova da Beira 4.1% [0.17%:8.3%], but non-significant variation remaining 6 sub-regions. Differences are more obvious at municipality level, ranging from 37.00% [32.00%:42.00%] decreases -11.00% [-17.00%:-4.20%]. Relative positively correlated percentage elderly ( r = 0.301; p 0.007), negatively population density =-0.243; 0.032). No other predicting variables found. Conclusion Antidepressant suffered very slight variations level declaration. Analysis higher allowed identifying municipalities (increase decrease). absence clear association patterns suggests hypotheses differences.

Background The COVID-19 pandemic prompted a range of studies on mental health, with mixed results. While numerous reported worsened conditions in individuals pre-existing disorders, others showed resilience and stability health. However, longitudinal data focusing the German population are sparse, especially regarding effects age disorders during early stages pandemic. Objectives To assess interplay between psychiatric history, age, timing pandemic, focus understanding how these factors relate to severity depression anxiety symptoms. Methods Exploratory analyses were based 135,445 aged 20–72 years from National Cohort (NAKO). Depressive symptoms assessed before after first wave Inferential statistical negative binomial regression models calculated. Results Persons self-reported history exhibited comparable levels symptom compared time before. In contrast, without particularly those their 20s 40s, experienced an increase health Limitations Analyses focuses leaving long-term unexplored. Conclusion Future research should consider age-specific mental-health-related when addressing global crises. Additionally, it is important explore influencing adaptation, aiming develop targeted interventions informed policies for effective management pandemics.
