This study investigates the machining performance of AZ91D magnesium alloy under three different cooling environments: dry, minimum quantity lubrication (MQL), and nano-reinforced MQL (NanoMQL) with multi-walled carbon nanotubes. Turning experiments were conducted on a CNC lathe systematically varied cutting parameters, including speed (150–450 m/min), feed rate (0.05–0.2 mm/rev), depth cut (0.5–2 mm). The was evaluated through force measurements, surface roughness analysis, tool wear examination using SEM. results demonstrate that NanoMQL environment significantly outperforms both dry conventional conditions, providing 42.2% improvement in quality compared to 33.6% over MQL. Cutting forces predominantly influenced by rate, while showed variable effects. SEM analysis revealed substantially reduced built-up edge formation flank wear, particularly aggressive conditions. superior is attributed enhanced thermal conductivity properties nanotubes, which form protective tribofilm at tool–workpiece interface. provides valuable insights for optimizing parameters industrial applications, where high longevity are required.

The use of mineral oil-based fluids in machining processes can lead to social and environmental problems. Therefore, the objective this study is perform a comparative technical-economic analysis between biodegradable emulsions based on babassu oil, castor oil commercial synthetic fluid during cylindrical turning SAE 1045 steel. formulations' impact tool wear durability at varying cutting speeds (90, 70 50 m/min) surface roughness workpiece was analyzed. Economically, costs per production volume were compared, using data from tests. tests demonstrated that emulsion provided longest life, reaching 65.31 minutes. best results. In economic analysis, advantageous speed 90 m/min, below value stood out.
