Abstract In most countries, males have ~2–3 times higher incidence of primary liver cancer than females. Sex hormones been hypothesized to contribute these differences, but the evidence remains unclear. Using data from UK Biobank, which included ~200,000 and ~180,000 postmenopausal females who provided blood samples at recruitment, we estimated hazard ratios (HR 2 ) 95% confidence intervals (CI) for a doubling in hormone concentration multivariable adjusted Cox regression circulating total testosterone, sex‐hormone binding globulin (SHBG), free testosterone concentrations risk cancer. After median 11.8 years follow‐up, 531 cases were observed, 366 occurred 165 Total SHBG shown be positively associated with both (Total HR : 3.42, CI:2.42–4.84 1.29, 0.97–1.72, respectively; 5.44, 4.42–6.68 1.52, 1.09–2.12, respectively). However, was inversely 0.42, 0.32–0.55) no association observed When analyses compared two main subtypes, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC), there heterogeneity; associations only HCC 3.56, 2.65–4.79 7.72, 6.12–9.73, respectively) 1.65, 1.20–2.27 6.74, 3.93–11.5, not ICC. Further research understanding mechanisms how sex‐steroids may influence is needed.

To investigate the correlation between serum sex hormone levels and clear cell renal carcinoma(ccRCC). The clinical data of male patients diagnosed with ccRCC simple cysts in our hospital from 2017 to 2023 were collected. basic levels, including luteinizing (LH), follicle stimulating (FSH), estradiol(E2), prolactin (PRL), progesterone(P), testosterone (T), compared cysts. A total 56 82 cyst included study. There was no significant difference age, height, weight, BMI, LH, PRL, P T cyst. E2 FSH lower than those cysts, differences statistically (p = 0.024, p 0.001, respectively). Logistic regression analysis showed that level negatively correlated (OR 0.968, 0.027). are significantly is ccRCC, suggesting may play a role occurrence progression ccRCC. study implied potential estrogen-based therapeutic strategies further needed explore its mechanism.

The higher prevalence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in men than women before menopause and the reduced difference post-menopause suggest that sex hormones may influence lipid accumulation. This study compared effects on droplet (LD) accumulation palmitate/ oleate-treated HepG2 cells. MTT method was used to determine effective doses palmitic oleic acids cells, followed by a combined dose for inducing LD formation. Changes content after treatment with various β-estradiol testosterone were evaluated qualitatively semi-quantitatively using Oil Red O staining light microscopy. these gene expression related formation lipogenesis, including PLIN2, ATGL, CGI-58, CIDEB, assessed quantitative PCR. Treatment cells palmitate oleate increased PLIN2 CIDE while elevating ATGL without affecting CGI-58. With no significant difference, both significantly steatotic Gene analysis indicated decreased CGI-58 expression. Testosterone did not affect CIDE, it at low doses. Combined showed changes individual hormone effects, but synergistically reduced. demonstrates modulate key regulatory genes showing somewhat dominant role enhancing turnover mitigating
