Neurodegenerative
diseases

their

pathophysiology

NDs,

acid
(EA)

neuroprotective
agent.

review
explores
EA's
clinical
molecular
properties
for
NDs.

antioxidant,
antiapoptotic,
anti‐inflammatory

pose
a
significant
global
health
burden.
The
rising
incidence
of
these
driven
by
factors

aging
population,
lifestyle
changes,
environmental
influences,
has
intensified
the
urgent
need
for
effective
neuroprotective
therapies.
Rutin,
natural
flavonoid
glycoside
widely
distributed
in
various
plants
buckwheat,
citrus
fruits,
onions,
garnered
attention
as
promising
agent.
This
review
comprehensively
evaluates
current
research
on
rutin’s
multifaceted
mechanisms,
which
encompass
antioxidant,
anti-inflammatory,
anti-apoptotic,
antidepressant,
anticonvulsant,
analgesic
effects,
well
its
role
enhancing
neural
signal
transduction,
improving
learning
memory,
protecting
blood-brain
barrier.
However,
despite
broad
spectrum
effects
favorable
safety
profile,
clinical
application
rutin
is
currently
limited
relatively
low
bioavailability.
To
address
this
limitation
fully
harness
therapeutic
potential,
future
should
prioritize
development
innovative
formulations
designed
to
enhance
