Background. Cannabis is one of the most widely used drugs in early adolescence, a crucial time for development. Cannabinoids within cannabis plant (e.g., delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol [THC], and cannabidiol [CBD]) are suggested to have range health implications. These may differ by sex, given sex differences endocannabinoid system (ECS). Yet, how aspects mental physical related use as measured hair concentrations, both adolescence across sexes, so far inconclusive.Methods. We analyzed toxicology data from three cannabinoid analytes (THC, CBD, 11-nor-9-carboxy-THC [THCCOOH]) multiple measures 9-15 year-old youth (49% female) Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study (N=2,262). Two-part linear regression models were fit assess effects constituent presence, THC concentrations + CBD presence on externalizing internalizing symptoms, strengthening exercise, asthma sleep duration. Secondary analyses same but stratified sex.Results. In full sample, greater predicted more frequent strength exercise year later; fewer symptoms days; THCCOOH shorter Among males, cannabinoids differentially duration; longer duration symptoms. females, frequency; duration.Conclusion. nationwide study ages years old, we found predict outcomes later, suggesting potential differential mechanisms health. Furthermore, sex-specific observations these prospective associations emphasize importance considering assigned at birth when investigating correlates use. Analysis can reveal key links health, activity, sleep, aiding understanding complex effects.

Substance use disorders (SUD) are associated with severe negative social and health-related outcomes. Evidence accumulates that chronic substance is alterations in interaction behavior, which likely contributes to the vicious circle of SUD. However, little known if these problems originate from contextual factors only or also itself – other words, they predisposed substance-induced. We study causation behind behavioral users over a 9-year period (from age 11 20) an urban cohort (n=1,002) high prevalence at 20. identify common patterns using toxicological hair analysis, examine incentivized games, teacher assessments across different ages determine causes effects use-related impairments interaction. find opioid stimulant reveal reduced prosocial behavior compared nonusers, particularly interpersonal trust perspective-taking (e.g., ∼50 percent less others). Our longitudinal analyses suggest causal relationship between non-medical prescription opioids impaired whereas among seem be partially predisposed. Moreover, women tend more severely affected by than men. no were found young adult cannabis ecstasy users. Highly addictive substances such as can impair users' undermining fundamental human fueling isolation.
