Neurobiology of the incubation of drug craving: an update

Abstract
In
the
‘incubation
of
cocaine
craving’
model
relapse,
rats
exhibit
progressive
intensification
(incubation)
cue-induced
craving
over
several
weeks
forced
abstinence
from
self-administration.
The
expression
incubated
depends
on
plasticity
excitatory
synaptic
transmission
in
nucleus
accumbens
core
(NAcC)
medium
spiny
neurons
(MSN).
Previously,
we
found
that
maintenance
this
and
incubation
ongoing
protein
translation,
regulation
translation
is
altered
after
craving.
Here
used
male

dopamine
D1
receptor-
