Metabolomics is a fundamental approach to discovering novel biomarkers and their potential use for precision medicine. When applied population screening, NMR-based metabolomics can become powerful clinical tool in oncology. Urine tests be more widely accepted due intrinsic non-invasiveness. Our review provides the first exhaustive evaluation of NMR determination colorectal cancer (CRC) urine. A specific search PubMed, Web Science, Scopus was performed, 10 studies met required criteria. Metabolomics samples like human urine or serum contain upwards of a few thousand metabolites, but individual analytical techniques can only characterize hundred metabolites at best. The uncertainty in metabolite identification commonly encountered untargeted metabolomics adds to this low coverage problem. A multiplatform (multiple techniques) approach improve upon the number reliably detected and correctly assigned.
