A novel effective sorbent for the extraction of antimony(III) from rice straw has been generated, having a specific surface area 470 m²/g. The material was subjected to series analyses, including scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray analysis, diffraction and FT-IR spectroscopy. sorption properties relative Sb(III) ions were characterised in dynamic conditions column experiment. total exchange capacity 113.92 mg/g renders this suitable use as permeable reactive barrier (sorption barrier) with objective protecting soils antimony contamination. To identify optimal soil protection, chemical composition, acid-base properties, parameters varying types characterised. determined static obtain isotherm. maximal identified sample low base saturation high organic component content, finding that corroborated by DTA analysis. results experiment layers aluminosilicate indicate promising new protection
